Ok, so I've been lurking this thread for about a month now, and after seeing the movie and loving it, i've decided i want to make tiny alice's dress. I've made costumes before, just never screen accurate ones. So this is mostly for aelynn, but if you could message me any information about how you made your dress, especially about where you got your ribbon, and what fabrics you used!! Any tips from anyone else would be awesome. :)

I remember someone saying their girlfriend made fabric flowers, do you know about how much it would cost? Hope it's ok to ask that here.

Everyone's costumes look absolutely amazing!!!!!! I am in awe of all of you, lol!

You look great!

Thanks PN and vintagestar!

I made the ribbon, it's 2 layers of some fancy lining stuff ( I literally have no terminology knowledge, I've said it once and I'll keep saying it cause I feel bad when I can't be much help in this area! ) that was about $15/m if that helps....I used black ribbon folded on the edges and a thin piece through the middle ( though my bust caused some of them to slide and cover the middle stripe XD ). After I made all that I pinned it and sewed it onto the bodice.

The skirt is a chiffon...looking to replace it with something else soon though.

The fabric flower is ... some other kind of lining, but feels more like a taffeta. I lucked out that it matched the silky lining ( at least in photos lol its a bit lighter in person ) I used for the ribbon, for sure! It was nice and stiff and held it's shape well. There are 6 petals ( though I'll probably add more ) and they're two layers each and sewn together in the center...I tried some origami but it just wasn't happening with fabric. LOL This way was a bit more time consuming but I could make it very customized to how I wanted it ... I have to find some other pictures 'cause I even ironed them in a way that some have the same folds and creases as hers! I'm quite proud of it. :)

Good luck with yours! I posted this out in the open in case anyone else ever comes about wondering...if you have any more questions feel free to PM me! :D

Jodo, TELL ME ABOUT IT! :lol It's funny you mention that though, we were planning on bringing porcelain ones to pour our drinks into but just never did...bah.

Thank you so much! I'm so desperate to go to a joann's and get started!! So the hardest part is the flower, and making the ribbon.

I'd appreciate any more pics of your costume that you could give me, especially of your flower and ribbon. :) you have no idea how much i'd love it!!

Ohh, i want to see the movie again so bad!

Thank you soooo much for your help!

they do but they need to be sheathed and tied in if there real
but as long as its not sharp you should be fine

the will mae you put a tag on it though, sometimes you get a cool guy and they let you put on the tag on a place where you wont see it in pictures
like the hilt

ill have Panda ask her cousin about a Vorpal

and Senitor
a white silk tool with sky blue paint will do the trick
and it has 3 buttons on it as well, i think there white and blue as well

Hey!)
I think that it silk netting or silk tulle fabric, not lace.
I also have noticed that there are buttons there)

Ahh!
Yesterday I found a box of pins that were identical to the flower pin Hatter uses.

The one we have it just a foam flower glued to the top...I'd sure like to replace that...even if no one sees it, it's nice to be screen accurate...

BUT

The box was $6.99. ( for maybe about 30...they were multicoloured so there were about 4 or 5 yellow ones in there ) WTF! I am not paying that for a single pin! I hate how sewing and craft stores ROB you! D:

But maybe I should....Should I?

And I wanted to share this photo! One of the few where the colours are actually close to what they look in person. And the wig is just too fabulous. And the hat has all of the hatpins here...and the flower pin in the ring...and the spools are sitting properly...I think this is the only and most complete photo I have. LOL

Just a side note... a neat little fact... I'm 90% certain that in the movie the first pink dotted hatband he had is what is now his handkercheif in the pocket! I thought that was kinda neat. Poor, sentimental little guy!

Are you talking about the pin in the pincushion ring? I have tons of those little yellow flower pins. You can get a whole box of yellow ones at Joann's. I can mail you a few if you PM your address. ;)

My mom bought a little box of them at CVS. Turns out all the flower ones were orange. :lol It just so happened that my sister had one in the van from like a year or two ago that's perfect. :lol

Sunflower button!! That is what you want! I will post before and after pics on my thread tonight! I am casting them in resin next!!

Not these guys but they are similar....

What did you do for your three brass colored hat pins? My dome shaped one is a birdcage charm turned upside down and threaded onto a hat pin. More pics tonight once again!!!!

The other two I am attempting to do in FIMO!

that little birdcage one turned out so good!!!!!

oh my goodness...my whistle one is etched craft foam...lol I made the hollow birdcage one out of 'green stuff'. They actually call it that....its blue and yellow and you squish it up to make green epoxy clay stuff or something like that...it's very wierd...and VERY sticky...but very solid when it's dried. It was so frustrating to work with that it was the only one I used it for. I have a brick of Fimo that I bought but that didn't go over too well either, I'm INCREDIBLY lacking in the sculpting department...Might try again sometime before a nice, real photoshoot though. :D

Soul, PMing you now!!!! That would be FANTASTIC! I know $7 doesn't seem like much but every bit helps when you're trying to save to buy a house....oh, how I dream of having a real sewing room instead of having my machine on a kitchen chair beside my computer... lol
