Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

currently debating on the shape I want for the wig...did you guys notice that his hair varies from scene to scene too!? UGH. Frizzy, crimpy, curly, fuzzy, long, short, curved up, flat top... -___-

Here's a little somethin' though.

hatterback.jpg

Slightly disheartening because I have a chocolate brown coat instead of auburn but I guess that's all relative depending on his mood. I like this picture cause at least under light the trim does look burgandy. Oh, the inconsistencies. :D

I love the back

good to know i drafted the pattern right ^^;

im thinking ill try to make a few more and sell these puppys

WHAAA! THAT HAT IS SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!

Myself, still chopping away at the wig. One side is having some issues staying up... ( that sounds so wrong ) so it's currently stuck on a wig head, sideways, on the back of a chair while the million gallons of hairspray dries before I start chopping away at it again. I feel like Edward pruning some shrubbery when I shape this thing. LOL

That is awesome, I love the little hat pins!

OK so....this wig is making me so nervous. It looks so long on the wig head...and i keep wanting to make it shorter...but then I look at the costume pic and it IS quite long...but I'm just scared it's going to be TOO long when its on a real head. And for some reason it looks WAY longer in photographs than it does in person...why the heck does the flash have to change so much!!! D:

Onto the manual curling... I am determined to be done this thing TONIGHT.

I'VE DONE IT! MY WIG-CHILD IS COMPLETE!!! ... at least until Travis tries it on tomorrow and I do some finishing touches. It still needs a good few hundred coats of hairspray after that and to sit upside down in the hat to keep it's shape but here it is. :D

Back ( CHECK OUT THE COLOUR MATCH ON THE BAND! :D I bought what was left of the bolt of this...may be making some for anyone interested )

And a super amazing wicked cool sweet fantastic photoshop job juuuuust to make sure it'll look okay.

superduper.jpg

Needs a bit of trimming, depending how it looks after sitting upside down overnight and how it stretches on Trav's real head but other than that I think it is NOT TOO SHABBY for a novice wig styler! My favourite part are the wirey curls on the ends. :D

Opinions?? Suggestions??

Now I get to vaccum my room!!! After bagging all this hair ....there's enough here for probably 5000 pairs of eyebrows. X_x

And because I'm awesome and stay up insanely late, I find goodies like these and can be the first to share! 2 full clips!
1. Fat Booooys!
2. Enormous Girl

These links are relevant here because...um...they make the costumers feel more in tune with their characters. >_>

LOL, I love the mini-hat Padawan! :D

Aelynn, the wig and hat look terrific! :D You should start offering your stuff! :D

Bah! I feel like my computer is LYING to me when I play the HD videos, my screens NEVER come out as clear as yours! D: Thanks for those! I CAN NOT WAIT to start that red dress!!! *_*

I wonder why the WQs crown is so different...from what I've read...well, and in that big group poster too, their crowns are the same size. Funny that the small headed one gets the bigger crown. :lol

Jodo, once I get all of our own stuff out of the way, I'm definitely considering it. The best part is I wouldn't charge an arm and a leg either...I know what it's like! I wouldn't be looking to make tons of money, just help out others. Right now I'm thinking about offering the gloves for like $10, hat sash for maybe $25-30...might be able to do some more wigs and the wig was $30 so that and then a little bit more for the cost of time and sanity. :lol Once I start having some extras I'll let you know!

I tried the wig on last night and the shape is great but I actually think I trimmed it a bit too short! :cry I might have to tug on the ends to fluff it out a bit more or re-attach some of the longer locks I cut off initially. Blah! I mean, again, not that it matters TOO much since the shape that varies cause the length to look different here and there too.

Soul, I was thinking that too about the movie! But then I realized we've really only seen about 5 minutes total. Out of 108 !!! That's a LOT Of unseen amazingness!!! *o*

Don't feel bad, I use computer magic to color enhance and sharpen my screen caps. ;)

Aelynn, count me in for a hat and gloves if they're gonna be that much, that not bad at ALL! :D :D :D

EDIT - And by hat and gloves, and I meen at least the hat and gloves! :D ;)

Well the hat band, not the hat! That would devour my soul! And the company that made the base for mine doesn't seem to be around anymore... :(

Soul...@_@ I am watching that auction. How much do they cost if I were interested in buying direct in the chance that i lose the auction?

Right now this is the only pair I've fabricated thus far aelynn. Call em the prototypes. :) I'll let you know as soon as I make more though. However I don't anticipate having anymore available until after the premier, so many projects in the works!

Dang it! :cry I don't need the hat band if I don't have a hat!

OK! The dreaded MH makeup routine! It is easier as Captain Jack because there was a makeup pallette already made up for us by Ve Neil! Now we have MH with white face paint, many colors of eye stuff, eyelash goop........!!!!!!

What are some good quality brand names for this stuff AND possibly application techniques.

The white face paint that I see is mostly the clown makeup which is really cheap but I don't know if that stuff is good enough. Also does it smudge or run? I would try some of this alcohol based Ve Neil stuff but that is alot of it for the face. The Pirate Palette is perfect for the hands.

Yes I know there are tons of Viddies out there on YouTube but I don't have time to watch them all to get ideas. Besides my friend that does my makeup routine is permanently out of town and doesn't have the time to look things up for me. Plus MAC products are far to expensive!

CJS, I think ( and hear ) that white greasepaint can be used for a nice smooth foundation... there's a mini tutorial a buncha pages back on how to apply and set it.

For being on a time and budget constraint, we just used Halloween makeup...it was a bit smudgey but definately not that bad for a $4 tube. ( mine was a lot better because I did it patiently and with a couple coats where as Travis just GOBBED it on and smudged it around...lol )

The coloured eyeshadows you can pick out at the dollar store or check out beautiesfactory.com for a BIG palette ( about $30 ) with all the colours you could ever need. Travis got it for me for Christmas since I said I wanted it but I also hinted that it would be perfect for Hatter. ;)

Again, we just used the Halloween white face paint...I think it was Rubies. Once it dries, any powder eyeshadow sits quite nicely on it.

There's actually just a VERY light coat of white on his eyelashes. The 'goopy' ones are just drawn on underneath the bottom eyelid. So you can do this, again, with the face paint and a toothpick after the eyeshadow is applied. Nice n easy! White mascara you can find for about $7 at any department store, usually sold as a double sided one...the white part is supposed to extend your lashes as a base before the black. But you ( and we ) would just use the white, obviously. :)

For a softer application of the eyeshadows, use a blush brush instead of an eyeshadow one. It covers more area and is obviously softer to spread and easier to apply. :)

And remember to wipe off your eyebrows or leave a space around them with the facepaint cause the spirit gum won't stick to it as well.
