Ahaha...So I tried my hand at unfolding a portion of the 3D model - specifically, the pauldrons. I had my boyfriend separate the pieces from the rest of the model, and I imported it into Pepakura. I did the auto unfold and it spit out an unfold that looked like it should come together properly on its own, so I added numbers, edges, and tried to scale it up quite a bit. The measurements I put in SEEMED right, but the entire thing fit on one single page. I knew it should be much bigger than that, but for the sake of practice and getting a scope of just how big it would actually come out, I decided to print it like that and put it together.

Needless to say, it came out SUPER tiny, hahaha, but I'm glad the unfold worked at least. Apparently the actual length of a mm does not apply in Pepakura??? I put in 500 mm (19 inches) as the width, and this is how it came out. And here I thought scaling would be easy, so long as I knew how big I wanted it to be. XD NOPE
My problem now is that I can't quite wrap my head around how to cut it up into smaller pieces that I can spread out over the pages. I played around with the "specify open edges" tool, and when I unfolded it after that, it divided it up, but I can't figure out how it determines how the pieces are shaped/where it decides the pieces will cut off. I think I need to look at a few tutorials before I get back to that. :confused When I get them properly scaled and cut up (and once I purchased the full version of the program...) I'll post the unfold for it here.
In the meantime, now that I have cardstock, I have nothing to hold me back from printing out the helmet unfold that Crimson posted a while back! I'm off to go do that now.
