Tie Interceptor conversion w/ scratch light display panels

Hey everyone!

Well, I really wanted to mess around with different ways to put lighting into things, so I picked an Interceptor and went about designing an custom light panel for the sides of the cockpit.

First I cut some lexan, and then etched the display pattern on the reverse side of it.

I then notched out the bottom of the panels, masked off the front and installed the LEDS (They're soldered, the glue is to prevent grounding).

Then I started the wiring and fiber.

The fit was great, and very snug. Wire placement would be totally hidden, even in the cockpit.

The clamshell goes back together, lights work well and I carry on kitbashing/cutting to get the ship to look a little better.

So painting finishes. I ran power to a small battery pack that sits on the stand. ran it through an angel-eye switch, that drew some of the extra power off the LEDs to bring the brightness down, and adds a cool matching effect. Really learned a lot about how the brightness of lights affects the "scale". Gonna roll the stuff I learned into the next project.

I'm happy with the way the engine internals came out too.

Yeah, it's one of the Hasbro Interceptors. They did an exclusive for Amazon that had the good lid instead of the folding ones.
