I am not even sure that this is an actual shot from the set...but looks like it, please confirm if anyone know this for a fact,

Mr Bill George has a web site called http://www.scifiairshow.com and there is a Tie Fighter Cockpit displayed there (Of course its a model...but WHAT A MODEL!!!) it looks absolutlty ACE! as Mr Georg is a Visual Effects Supervisor at ILM i guess that Cockpit is pretty spot on...or? at least it looks the part, what do you guys think.

Yes your first pic is the full size cockpit set from ANH, also used for Vader's cockpit. ROTJ reused footage from ANH. The small round detail in front of the pilot was not really seen on screen.
The Sci-Fi Airshow TIE is an amalgam of the set, the filming model, and conjecture for the hatch.

The AIRSHOW images are some slick CGI, for sure!

Though, it escapes me why the TIE would have multiple hatches... don't recall that being something seen in any of the movies...another 'amazing cutaways' invention, perhaps?

Yeah, not a fan of the rear hatch idea, but it is otherwise a beautiful model.

I can't seem to find a good clear image of it to link to, but the original blueprints for the TIE fighter models for Star Wars (long before it was ever called A New Hope) do indeed call out an aft hatch.

I have mixed emotions about it, too, but it's been official since the very beginning.
