This is a project I have been wanting to do for quite a while. Not the most popular movie, nor prop but a movie and character I really like, some love for THX 1138 had to be shown:)
I eventually sourced a helmet , close to the original,

Peak has been reshaped and a line of stitching has been put around the sides, I masked off the black section of the helmet and added numbers,

Just a final coat of lacquer to complete the lid.

Next the face and back ,

I sculpted the face,

I then recast the face and vacformed a test pull to check size and adjustments,

I hope to get the back made soon, I plan to vac pull the face parts in clear acrylic and spray the insides with chrome paint for the silver effect.

Nice build. THX had it's problems (mainly the extremely generic no-point sf-story) but the production design was really nice. Don't forget to make one of those long rods they carry.

Re: THX II38 Android Cop

Thanks Kyuzo, yes THX is not everyone's taste that is for sure.
I have a 6ft Bo staff which may suit, I will see about light aluminium pipe, then a nice black paint job.I will work on finishing the head first.

Very cool! The THX cops are rare thing to see on here.

Couldn't you vacform mirrored plastic over your buck?

C.

Looking good!

Glad to see someone else who appreciated that movie.

One of Georges better movies!

Another fan here! I too was thinking about making this costume but the thing that stoped me was the head.

Don't forget the chrome baton!

Thanks guys, your kind comments really help with my enthusiasm for this project.

I am sharpening up the face buck and trying to see the final shape and size when the plastic is pulled over. I plan on 2mm thickness for a bit of strength, so a couple of mm's is removed from the buck, to keep a similar shape.

I made the rear section, just a bit of smoothing and beautifying before I do a decent pull with a suitable plastic.
Slow but sure!

I have deepened the buck, and pulled a few test masks,

I wonder what the neighbours think? :)

Just signed up to the site because of this post! Awesome work wolf!

Do you think down the road you would be willing to sell a completed mask?

Yes I will hopefully make a few two part vacformed masks for the guys who want one. I hope to get the back piece smoothed up this week.
Thanks for the nice comments.

A little bit more done, a wee test pic , helmet needs another coat of lacquer, back needs to be vacformed etc etc,
