Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

nice method, i may have to try this one

I'm sure Jordan will chime in here and give you his method. Since I saw your post, and I work with the same EVA foam, I figure I'd also drop you my method. I think the best thing to do is research several different example builds and then do your own testing to make sure they work with the foam material you're work on.

My method is as follows...

A. 2-3 coats Plasti-Dip
B. 3-4 coats of Adhesive Promoter
C. 2-3 coats of Desired Color (Ironman Red: Dupli-Color Dark Cherry Metallic auto paint)

If you need a bit more 'shine' to your piece, you can then add a quick (and very light) coat of a gloss for auto plastics.

The wrist piece here is fiberglass/bondo, but the rest of the armor is all foam.

W.O.W.

I can't wait to see this finished. Superb, man!

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

I was wondering how many sheets of foam I need for a full suit? I'm about to order a few from Wandyfoam off ebay - the 4mm 12" by 18" sheet. shipping is ridiculous lol so I'd rather order in 1 go

I'd like to know how this process fares against flexing. Any problems with cracks in the paint?

And what is this adhesive promoter? I'm new to this, can you please elaborate on it?

I finished cutting out mine using this same Wandyfoam, I ordered 40 but only used 35, have a few for detail work or whatever. My build is a Mark III Iron Man, but at least gives you an idea on how much. Hope that's helpful!

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

Wow. When i first heard about a foam suit i was sceptical. After looking at your build and a few others I am sold on the use of foam.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Partial Right Arm Paint-Up Pics! 8/26

Will we be getting to see this masterpiece painted now you have Halloween behind you? :love

Absolutely Oustanding Suit Build... And inspired me to finally start on my own foam suit... It was about this time last year that i found the site and have been hooked since... and your 2 Iron Man builds and recent addition of Thor have been at the fore front of that addiction :cool
