Hey guys,
Bad news.. I just don't think I'll have enough time to complete my suit to the level it needs to be in time for Halloween.. and I really don't want to rush it and have it end up looking like shat.
Instead I am going to continue on the build without the constraints of halloween and I am going to put together a hybrid Batman suit.. sorta Arkham meets, comics, meets begins.

Yeah, I'm kinda freaked about Mikey's suit. I'm working on the foam legs and some sort of solution (hybrid hardened/foam) for the boots. I've also got to do the rigging and under-armor work. With 5 weeks to go it's a bit scary...
I'm sad you won't be able to suit up for Halloween 2011, but the great thing about building for adults is that you can wear it for years after building it (as long as you don't 'round out' your mid-section like some of us old farts who are approaching 40). :lol
I can't wait to see you finish this thing up, and I'm glad you're willing to put the time in to get it perfect!:thumbsup

Hey GJ, wow this suit is unreal! I have someone working on a suit with me, but have run into a snag. We can't seem to get the biceps, thighs, legs, and forearms to stay glued. We've been using super glue. Did you use hot glue to keep these pieces together? If so, do you think that'll hold up to the stress of movement? Sorry if this sounds noobish, but am a first time builder.

I hope to have mine finished by Halloween, well I will make it be done by then! Started workin with foam today and now understand how truly talented you are. Hope to see some more updates soon!

Hi! I am totally blown away with your build! I want to start my own build and this helps a lot. i have a few questions though: how do you paint the foam? was it sprayed directly onto the foam. any specific kind of paint?

I'm sure Jordan will chime in here and give you his method. Since I saw your post, and I work with the same EVA foam, I figure I'd also drop you my method. I think the best thing to do is research several different example builds and then do your own testing to make sure they work with the foam material you're work on.
My method is as follows...
A. 2-3 coats Plasti-Dip
B. 3-4 coats of Adhesive Promoter
C. 2-3 coats of Desired Color (Ironman Red: Dupli-Color Dark Cherry Metallic auto paint)
If you need a bit more 'shine' to your piece, you can then add a quick (and very light) coat of a gloss for auto plastics.
The wrist piece here is fiberglass/bondo, but the rest of the armor is all foam.

I have been away from this forum for some time and stopped all progress on my suit. (due to work & Call of Duty).
I'm considering starting all over again and have to say your 2nd suit is the shiznit. lol.
Who's templates have you used in creating this masterpiece?
Also, when i sprayed up a couple of pieces i found the paint cracked when trying on the pieces. does plasti-dip offer that stability with it been a rubber coating?
