so r u doing the bondo putty filler
or actual bondo mix that heats up once mixed... I worried about that melting spots in the foam

Really loving this so far! I'm kind of new to looking into the foam suits, but have seen some amazing stuff looking through the RPF!

My question is, if you're using hot glue to bond, do you ever have problems with it coming loose? are you having to be be extra careful with it? Having never worked with the eva foam before, just wasn't sure what the bonding properties would be like.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Collar plate, Neck and Top Spine Pics - 3/03

Hot glue seems to fuse it pretty damn well. Nothing has come apart with test fitting etc.. plus the whole suit will have all seams bondo putty'd sanded/primed and painted.

Thanks for the info :D can't wait to see more of the suit! think you might have it ready and make it to SDCC or D*C?

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Collar plate, Neck and Top Spine Pics - 3/03

Thanks! I am actually running low on foam so I'll be ordering some more soon. But I plan on making the helmet next.. just to break from the larger parts.

When are these conventions and where?

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Collar plate, Neck and Top Spine Pics - 3/03

If I went to either it would be the one in Atlanta... it's closer and further away from now. But that stuff is soooo expensive. Airfare, Hotel Stay, Food, Tickets, etc...

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Collar plate, Neck and Top Spine Pics - 3/03

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Collar plate, Neck and Top Spine Pics - 3/03

Small Update. Helmet is done. Still need to smooth seams and put the grooves in later.. It will opening similar to Don Roberts where the center forehead area is connected to the faceplate.

Yes it is. It was modified for me though before I made it into a foam template. So this is not something anyone can download though :(

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Helmet Pics!!! - 3/13

This is looking really really good man.
I hope this doesn't offend at all but have you thought of making a pep helmet and doing the glass and filler method to go with the costume?
Although, I do have to say I like this.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Helmet Pics!!! - 3/13

I've built numerous helmets the fiberglass bondo rondo way and this is by far better looking in my opinion. Plus... I haven't smooth seams, added the groove details or put on ears... this is getting a thin later of rondo on the inside of faceplate as well. When it's done you'll think it was made from plastic.

Re: EVA Foam Mark VI Iron Man Build - Helmet Pics!!! - 3/13

Dude this is amazing,I cant believe how accurate you made a helmet out of foam!
Blows my mind!!!
Love the progress, this build is SICK!!!
