I read through about half of your Iron Man thread (http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=170665) and did not see the answer. Please accept my apologies and simply say "You missed it" or "It's in there" if I did or it is. I will promptly vacate your lawn and re-read your thread.
I saw many applications of loose chopped strand fiberglass for both mold shells and reinforced castings. How is the loose strand applied? I am experienced in the gel-cote -> polyester resin -> glass cloth -> stippled resin, etc process (see my sig), but a non toxic, no fumes method would facilitate year-round fabrication. I would think painting a urethane coat then sprinkling on some loose strand would be correct, but surely you can't brush on more resin after that? Wouldn't the brush funk up the loose strands?

I typically don't use loose chopped strands, but the application is not much different than the cloth or mat application that you're used to. The only trick is to ensure even coverage/thickness over the parts and molds. Then you need to pay attention during the brushing of resin so that you don't dig out a thin spot in the loose strands of fiberglass.
This is why I usually stick with thin chopped strand mat. That, and the fact that my local supplier doesn't tend to carry loose strand fiberglass.
