I love seeing props after weathering, especially when there are before/after pictures like this. Awesome work!

What about a "during" pic? I forgot to post this one with the last update:


I sprayed the clearcoat Friday. It turns out that "Snakeskyn" was the winner of my quick and dirty test. Here's one of the necks after a coat had dried:

Actually, that particular picture is a computer render by Peter Rubin, the guy who did the character design. He's also writing and directing the Gage movie. On top of everything else, he's a very talented digital modeller.

I wish I had something relevant to say here, other than how awesome that looks. It is inspiring to see!

UPDATE:

I'm calling this outfit done for now:


Tomorrow I'll be getting some better pics in more ideal lighting. One of these days I'll need to remake the arms and legs and fix some proportion problems. But for now, this suit is done.

Amazing! I love it! Especially the transition (?) between the shin and the foot, many builds have a very "loose" look there due to overlapping parts that don't really connect to anything and creating gaps. You managed to make this part look completely right and sturdy! Awesome work!

Hands down the best Iron Man suit I've seen created outside of the movies themselves. Kudos to you! A real treat to have followed this thread and seeing your entire process.

Buddy I can't help but ask but I think the angle from this pic's making the helmet look unproportioned to the suit? or it's just me?

All of the proportions are off. If you take the waist and hips as full-sized, the chest, shoulders, arms, and legs are about 95% of full-size. The helmet is about 102% of full-size. If I'd scaled the parts all at 100% it would never have fit.

I am new here, but been looking at all the Iron Man builds and sir I must say yours is one of the best I have seen! I plan to build my own suit soon and maybe contacting you for some of the smaller parts! Keep up the great work!

I am not even sure what to say in response to your thread.... I am speechless.
I am new to the RPF and to this hobby and in my minds eye THIS THIS THIS is what I imagine and hope my armor suit will come out like. Ok, actually I would be thrilled if it would come out looking 1/10 as fantastic as that. In reality it will probably end up looking like my son's LEGO Iron Man :lol The level of detail you put into even the tiniest components is incredible. Builds like yours are what get my blood pumping, creative juices flowing and the drive to want to start crafting an IM suit. I have been going back and forth between building a MK IV or a MK III and you are not making the decision any easier lol.

Just stunning... Well done and thank you for sharing all of your efforts.

I've been away from the workshop for the past week, so I haven't had much opportunity to do anything with this project.

The last thing I did was decide that I needed to resize the thighs. The pair that I made were a tiny bit too long and narrow. I re-sized the model to give me a pair that's about 3/4" shorter and about 1" wider and had Lopez whittle out a new pair:


On Monday I should have some time to assemble the parts and start the bodyshop work to get them ready for molding. Stay tuned...
