Things you're tired of seeing in movies

On dialogue, when a movie set in Medieval times use hip young person phrases to pander to the audience. It drives me crazy when a renaissance painter say a woman is hot, or other such nonsense. I specifically mean when everything else is trying to be the right period, IE, costumes, sets weapons, etc. but they throw in current year phrases... usually trendy **** that will age poorly (in only a year or two).

I once read something about how you could usually tell what decade a movie was made in based on clothing styles, hair styles and dialogue.

Look at the Disney princesses. They generally match the styles of the time. Snow White has a 1930s-40s mojo. Aurora & Cinderella look decidedly 1950s. Etc.

I forgot what I was watching the other day, something from the 90s, and they said the girl was a "total Betty". I haven't heard that phrase used since I was in high school and even then only on tv/movies. I don't think it ever caught on.

Nicholas Meyer said the same thing during the Wrath of Khan audio commentary…

A key ingredient in the Genesis Device was not just proto-matter, but also Aquanet.

You could make 4 movies about the Battle of The Bulge….one shot in 1945, one in 1965, one in 1975, and one in 1985 and, plus or minus 5 years, you could tell when they were made.

In our present era…if they recast key roles and characters in ways that are not historically accurate, you can tell it was made in the 2020’s.

I always think about that in those scenes. "Oh, I'd be a goner." I've always sucked at pull ups, even when I was thinner and stronger. I think I'm trying to do it all with my arms, and I think lat muscles are supposed to be involved? Or something? My brain just doesn't tell them to help.

People on the cliff: give me your hand! Dude, I'm barely holding on with TWO. I can NOT pull myself up with one hand even the little bit required to reach with the other one. You're asking me to commit suicide.

(Deckard did not pull himself up. Batty did it.)
