The Wolverine (Post-release)

No.... The 3D pack comes with a 3D BluRay, a regular BluRay, a DVD and a digital copy. Along with all the extra features.... I believe the 3D version is a 4disc set.... Atleast that's in the US.

Edit, I mean that the ps3 will play the BluRay, which is the uncut version..... Not sure if the ps3 will play 3D or not..

I got the 3d bluray just for the uncut version. I'd sell my 3d disc but have absolutely no clue who has a 3d bluray player LOL gonna check out the uncut version right now!

Let us know what you think, I like the movie but thought it would be better with an R rating (like anything with Wolverine). :cool

Extra scenes are pretty good! After watching it i can see where it was cut up in the theatrical release. For instance, when at the love hotel, Logan passes out and drops sideways but shows him laying on his back. In the extended, he gets beat up and is on the street. After knowing that, you can tell in the theatrical version that hes clearly on the pavement and not on a balcony. The scene before the pin-cushion-Wolverine is especially awesome, more ninjas, Yuk comes in & does cool 5#!t and Logan pops his cigar for a sec. The added in scenes actually give more depth to the story, Yashida talks to Shingen about failing, Shingen and Mariko talking before him slapping her. A tad bit more WWII dialogue. Lots of little things, but after you watch it you cant see why they cut it out other than timing i suppose

The love hotel scene showed Mariko and her throwing knife skills, which was a better setup than just her stating "we were champs that summer, he with the bow and me with the knifes" And the Shingen-Yashida scene had more exposition and added a bit more emotion behind Shingen's motives, rather than just being a bad guy wanting power. He actually was, but seeing his pops telling him off gave it slightly more depth

Indeed...Agreed, I think the extra scenes fill in small blanks in the overall original movie, (although on it's own, they aren't big, so the original film works fine without them), and therefore don't "change" the movie, but do make it play better all the way through...

It makes more sense...

(Plus, how is Mariko going to lug a 200kg+ Logan downstairs?)

I remember asking my wife what they were saying, as there weren't any subtitles. One thing that makes me laugh is when Mariko's dad is talking to the police in Japanese, and then talks to the fiancé in English. Why?

Agreed...Makes very little sense....I suspect they're just trying to help the audience out....This kind of thing happens regularly in western films made in Japan though...It's hard to find a decent/realistic balance...

I'm fluent, and everytime I visit the cinema with girlfriends, while I'm reading the subtitles for the English spoken words, there are more mistakes than I can handle...I used to try explaining what was wrong...Since I was the only one laughing at the movie...But I gave up...It takes too long...(I do it on DVD's now...LOL)

Fun...

So will Logan just have bone claws in DOFP? Or do you think Magneto put the adamantium ones back in somehow?

Y same applies for alot of asian movies when you compare what is being said to what is being said in the subtitles :) Some movies turn into an entire different story :D

Absolutely.....The quickest, shortest, most easily understood version gets used, which is fine for a lot of people, but misses a lot more than it helps often...You miss too much without a knowledge of the language...Works both ways of course....Japanese films are a lot better in Japanese when you understand it...I'd assume the same goes for Chinese films and the rest of the world too....

Need to start learning more I reckon!
