X-Men: Days of Future Past (Post-release)

Finally saw it a couple nights ago. Decent movie, but not as good as First Class. First Class was a better emotionally balanced movie IMO. Still pondering how the end credits scene of Wolverine tied to this one; Xavier and Magneto showing up in the airport and just jumping ahead to the future in this one.

Bring on Guardians of the Galaxy. Looks like it will have the humor this one lacked.

[On the Mystique sentinel thing, I think her shifting abilities only allow the Sentinels to use other powers that have been pooled from mutants. We see one that absorbs Colossus’s metal skin (Rogue), one with diamond skin (Emma Frost), and one using clawed fingers (could be Sabertooth or Lady Deathstrike) this is kind of similar to the whole X-O Deadpool. I have a feeling we have never seen the true extent of her powers from the way Beast and Xavier talk about her. Also she turns into a statue in X-1 so she might be able to mimic the properties of elements…maybe? In the comics, she has “Metamorphic Adaptation”, but that isn’t touched on in the films.[/QUOTE]

The whole debate about where the sentinels developed the ability to take the X men powers will be solved when the DVD is released. The whole"future" backstory of Rogue ,which is going to be a mini film along with all the completed effects work, will appear on the DVD. They simply couldn't fit it into the film at the time, although you do see the tail end of her escape with help from Xavier and Magneto in the X plane in the cinema release. Its great to see the film as done so well in the States and worldwide now.

The Wolverine end credit scene works in DOFP, because Magneto and Xavier go recruit Wolverine at the airport due to the new weapon that is going to bring the end of mutants (which is the future Mystique inspired sentinels). It is also explained in the original timeline Mystique killed Trask and the sentinel program was put on hold and then they created the adaptive sentinels after The Wolverine. Then in DOFP Wolverine is working with Xavier and Magneto fighting the weapon that is going to bring an end to mutants. The thing is it jumps 10 years between The Wolverine (2013) and DOFP (2023 future portion of the film). It is a little confusing due to the decade time gap.

And wasn't Spock prime supposed to show up with a little lens flare? ;) The ten year gap was what confused me.

I'm aware of that, and looking forward to seeing it! Thanks for bringing it up though! The only issue is Rouge would not completely explain everything the Sentinels do, the only time I remember them absorbing powers was with Colossus. They adapt like Darwin also, which his DNA was probably on file due to his involvement with the CIA.
@Goonie I completely understand on the confusion. Wait, my bad the after credit scene was in 2015, because of the whole 2 years later thing so just 8 years. :facepalm The main problem with the X-Men films is they skip around in time too much and a lot of stuff isn't explained leading to "plot holes". BTW I'm sure the Star Trek reference is clever and humorous, but I have never seen any of the shows or movies.

Bishop and Shaw's powers are a bit similar in that they absorb and redirect energy, Havok on the other hand does not absorb energy. Like Cyclops he only emits it.

They never cover in the films where the energy that Cyclops and Havok emits comes from. In the comic, Havok absorbs cosmic energy and Cyclops absorbs solar energy. I guess that makes them a little similar to Shaw and Bishop, but more specific because they can't just absorb and redirect any energy like Shaw or Bishop.

While on the subject of Cyclops and Havok does anyone remember the possible cameo of Scott in First Class? Or it could just be a young mutant boy in sunglasses. haha

If that was him, he barely aged from 1962 to 1979. haha

Good news everyone. Thanks to the continued success of the film an extended directors cut with Rogues footage fully restored into the story plus additional scenes appears to be a definite go!

One thing that left me a little confused after watching DoFP was Wolvie's claws, didn't the last Wolverine movie take place in present day which means that he should have had bone claws in the future segments of the movie yet he had his metal claws but bone claws back in the 70s. I don't know when Wolvie went through the whole Weapon X program but I always thought that it took place well before the 70s but having neither read the original story nor seen any of the Wolverine movies except the last one I really don't know when he got adimantiumized.

Movie wise its the early 80's that he gets metal. Future wise is suspected that magneto rebonded thw metal to his claws.

Ooh I wanna see Rogue's future outfit! As for the rerelease with added stuff, lol it's Fox, the same studio who gave us half a dozen versions of Star Wars

Might be the director's cut, it says it gives a longer running time than the theatrical release. I really want the Cerebro set! Includes all 7 films... then Apocalypse and Deadpool release and need a new box set lol

I gotta ask, can anyone confirm if that little boy that Logan sees when he first comes out of his room at the end is the same kid you see in the beginning scavenging through the remains around the camp grounds? Seems that they both had that tuft of white hair in front.
