Magic 8 ball says:

Apollo (and everyone who hasn’t been able to secure one in the US yet) hopefully you’ll be able to grab one with this release through the Star Trek Shop.Chris Barnardo July 15, 2025 at 11:56 am![]()
We are loading more stock in and when we have enough stock we will send the invite but it will only ever be on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and only at 4pm UK time.
But in the meantime however, this Friday, 18th at 8 AM Eastern time, the Star Trek Shop and IGN Store will launch their stock of our Tricorder, so you could be ready and waiting for that opportunity to purchase.
Does the 8 ball results apply to me, as well?
The other side is easy as well. Just unscrew it so you can slide it back along the wires that are threaded through it. Just enough that you can reach the prong and bend it, then put it back. Was really no more difficult than the other side.So I decided to bend the plastic a little so the detent is tighter. As reported it doesn't make it any louder when opening and closing the hood and is much better. I found that when you have it over the shoulder it would often open to the first notch from rubbing against your side and might explain why the actors sometimes had their hand over it.
I only did the one on the left, the one on the right has all the wires going through it and I'm not messing about with all that nonsense.
I understand what you're saying but I tend to have bad luck when it comes to something this simple where wires are involved, something always ends detaching for me and I'm not a very skilled solderer. I still have nightmares from when I knocked one of the charging wires off the wand communicator when I was modifying itThe other side is easy as well. Just unscrew it so you can slide it back along the wires that are threaded through it. Just enough that you can reach the prong and bend it, then put it back. Was really no more difficult than the other side.
I like your idea and concept but for me it would just be another hole in the trike to plug something into that I would never use. Here’s a T.I.P. (Thought In Progress)….
Suppose I want to geek out on any given day and take my Tricorder out for a walk, or ride somewhere with it by mass transportation etc., and I want to hear all the audio SFX sounds, Logs, etc….and so I’m faced with, how do I not disturb those around me in my travels (unless I want to demonstrate the Tricorder to others, even strangers)….well wouldn’t it be nice if TWC had designed an Audio Out jack feature to plug-in a corded headphone(s) mono (L or R) single earbud for a mono wired jack…(since the Tricorder only has one mono speaker), or ‘mock stereo’ wired mono x2 on a stereo jack to both earbuds (L+R) ???
Well here’s an overall overview of this idea ….. using existing graphics I came across and now modified by me.
Below, is the TWC simplified block diagram. I’ve removed part of the output line (orange), between the Audio Out of the hood Audio circuitry (No. 6) directly to the speaker. I’ve added No. 19 an Audio Out jack, with an audio line (green) representation between the speaker, new audio jack, and the output line (orange) of the hood audio.
(Lines on this Block Diagram, in general, represents multiple wires and connections but not to the level of many more connections to PCB’s which are many)

Below to the left, is the end result……
The 3.5mm Audio Jack (Mono or Stereo) is shown mounted to the lower portion of the Tricorder back panel itself. Yes! You’ll have to drill a hole in the back panel plus the Safety Panel (cover) for new added wires and Audio Jack barrel length.

Below, the copper tape will have to be peeled back to expose the wires (colors presently unknown by me) leading to the speaker so they can be cut, adjusted, and spliced with new wires. You will not have to go into the Hood…since the wires are laying against the aluminum side and exposed for cutting.
You can see that once you remove the Safety Panel (my words) it appears there’s enough room in the power charging PCB area to accommodate the installation of the Audio Jack and associated new wiring.

Caution! at this time this is a Conceptualized Overview …I have not researched Devil in the Details specifics.
The BOM (Bill of Materials) will vary…..depending on the specifications of materials used. When it comes to the Audio Jack itself and different panel mounting versions, rely on the Data Sheets for the specific part you may be interested in because dimensions will differ.
In the U.S. sources for all parts needed should be found at Digi-Key, Mouser Electronics, Newark…possibly others.
Here’s a helpful tutorial on…. Audio Jacks Basics
Well, there’s enough info here for those who have DIY electronic projects experience and ingenuity, to make this modification to your Tricorder if you so desire.

Btw….you can store earbuds in the lower compartment when not in use

I work so again I am outApollo (and everyone who hasn’t been able to secure one in the US yet) hopefully you’ll be able to grab one with this release through the Star Trek Shop.![]()
You will get it. Being available from 3 different retailers in the next couple weeks will insure that. Resellers are no longer getting 3 times the price. They are going for barely over retail on the resell market. So the Interest has waned. These are not extremely limited. There is probably no set number right now. So relax and you will get it. The buy windows are getting longer and longer. I bought mine about an hour after I got my invite. So just keep an eye on your email on the days Chris said it will become available..Having tried to purchase twice and failed, I'm beginning to lose sight of the benefit of signing up all those years ago. I believed by signing, I was securing my spot in line. I would be sent an exclusive purchase link and secure my tricorder. Not to find out there's nothing truly exclusive since every interested party will have that link giving you mere minutes to attempt a purchase that I assumed was locked in. Now, to find out they will be released to other public-facing retailers which will likely sell out, again, in mere minutes. Frustration is setting in.
I don't know if you saw my post above but I have this extra one if you want it.I work so again I am out
I have given up really its no big deal if I don’t get one, to be honest the way this whole fiasco has been handled has left a bad taste in my mouth for it
I have lost all faith in the Wand Company
One should not have to jump through hoops to purchase a Product
