The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

Interesting--just had my first real tricorder glitch. It froze completely. The buttons became unresponsive, closing the hood wouldn't shut it off, nothing. I was going to do a factory reset, but I figured I try something less drastic first. So I pulled the battery and put it back in. Voilà, fixed.
Stop playing with your tricorder all day. Not only will it eventually freeze you will go blind.

But does it play “Super Star Trek”?

"cleared down"? A UK turn of phrase, perhaps?
I thought that was weird too. I assumed it was a Brit thing. Like ending words with "our" and calling fries chips and chips crisps. And driving on the wrong side of the road. We fought a whole revolution so we could drive on the right side, dammit! But they do make nice tricorders... :p

Did Amazon Hire Jack the Ripper delivery service ?

Did doing a shut down (holding the center button) not work either? That's odd. Hope it was just a fluke.

BTW, I don't think the shut down is mentioned in the manual. It tells you how to turn it on, and then says to close the hood to make it hibernate, but I don't recall it saying that you can hold down the middle button to shut it down. That way you can display it with the hood up without draining the batteries or waiting until it goes to sleep.

Holding the middle button down again, will not turn it off. It will turn off after 15 minutes of not being used, or on the main screen you can select force hibernate, and that will shut it down. Though technically, you are pushing the middle button to make that happen.

So, did you get the link to purchase from? I received an email from the Wand Company stating that they are raising the costs. So now it will be about $500 after taxes & shipping.
