The Wand Company TOS Tricorder is coming!

Aren't we jumping the gun a bit assuming that the SD card slot will never be used? The Tricorder just came out, and its software is pretty stable from what I've seen. If it's TWC's intention to use the SD card slot for firmware updates, then they'll need to have a worthwhile feature to add before doing so.

As far as playing back video files, I guess it'd be a cute feature, but honestly the tricorder design doesn't really lend itself to long-term viewing.

For an obvious reason……which some might have already figured out……”physical hardware mods” to try to tap into the display with other widgets…..ain’t gonna happen….any use of the display other than what TWC programmed, will have to be a software/firmware hack. Or wait on Wand……

I’m tapping out on hardware hacks as far as the display goes only….I was slooooooow to see the epiphany..

It’s up to software/firmware folks……Good Luck!

Although the hardware hack hit a brick wall…..

For software/ firmware hack purposes a connector pin to pin continuity check will help to verify the ARM tables pin out call outs….but if you don’t have the time…it is what it is. The part number alone on was better than nothing.

Did you by chance peel back the soft tape to reveal an more info?

One thing you should know is if this display is a custom proprietary made exclusively for wand…..it will be futile to get display info. Jus sayin….

hardest part of the disassembly was getting the tape off the back of the LCD.

and of course, unlike every other lcd display for sale online, no model number printed anywhere.

yep.

i dont know how. but i do have a tester around somewhere. im in no hurry to reassemble

It’s easy peasy….YouTube continuity testing SMD IC’s. Caution ….always ground yourself so as not to cause ESD on the parts you are testing. Also never ever power up the tric when your doing continuity testing.

What do these signify? Is this just for the harness ribbon or the display?

I’m not sure since it’s folded this way and that way……

But since the only number on the entire module is….L24G1032-A1 (not including the company logo)….I’m confident it’s the part number for the whole assembly…..further below shows why I think this is so….

Look at this LCD module below….you’ll notice the only number is on the connector much like Wands…some characters are even the same ….L…..24….similarly -A2…..(24 is for 24pins)

Now Google the part number an add LCD module after that…..you’ll see that part number LCM-24328-A2 as the entire LCD module.

It’s not the case for the wand part number….it remains elusive, leading me to believe its a custom part number providing no info on the www as of yet…

This logo may still be key to at least finding the mfg……
