As I feared, check the Wand blog. They’ve already finished the first wave of the production run of the Tricorder and only what’s currently in the pipeline will be available for sale. After that they may be done. Chris says that they’ll be counting registrations of interest on Star Trek shop to decide if they’ll do a second run or not.

Someone previously said that the standard order for a Chinese factories is a 10,000 unit production run.
They probably produced that gravelly underestimating the demand for them.

Like some products ….cars especially…..never buy the first year of new car models. They usually have flaws. Buy the second or third year when they’ve worked out the flaws. Perhaps the tricorder is the same way…..wait for newer revisions.

Yeah but then There's no guarantee you're going to get one, that's the problem now. When or how long is "down the line", it could end up being too late especially with all the problems they've had with the registration of interest and invitation to purchase so far. When they put that back up on Amazon on the 29th all hell's gonna break loose I fear.

They're still on Amazon UK now available to buy, do I just bite the bullet and get another now or try and wait for the "smoothed out" run and risk not getting one at all ...

Ok, I have no personal knowledge of Chinese manufacturing practices. I was only repeating what another person had posted. Regardless, maybe they did commit to a smaller initial run. That would just make the situation worse. Whatever the initial amount, it was clearly an underestimate of what the demand would be and Chris’s reply doesn’t commit to do a second run. He only says that if there is sufficient interest the might do second run.
