The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

Heeeeey. What about that vatos that took an arrow in his cheek? I don't think Daryl-(who shot many walkers) exactly had an alcohol sawb to clean that arrow with him. I wonder if he will turn?

I'm pretty sure all those zombies attacking the camp is because Merle brought a truck load of them to the camp and released them as revenge.

Yeah, doesn't seem likely. More likely is he got in the truck, attracted some zombies and led them slowly in the truck up to the quarry.

But more likely is the comic book explanation, that the cities are emptying out as the zombies find less food there.

Interesting that they haven't set up the conflict between Rick and Shane about the danger of staying at the camp vs waiting around to be rescued.

Can't help thinking they are gonna keep Shane around longer on the show than in the book.

I thought they did get into a minor argument about staying in one place.
I'm sure they'll keep Shane around for the tension but I doubt he'll go out like he did in the comics.

I agree, it seems like they are keeping Shane around a bit more, but technically, it's only now getting to the point that they should get in the fight.

Spoilers from Entertainment Weekly....

Shane/Lori/Rick:
Well, looks like Shane is around next season. I thought Carl shooting Shane would've been the perfect ending to season 1. I'm very disapoointed that they're keeping him around longer, just as I was a bit disappointed that they made the relationship between Shane and Lori more than it was in the book.

I thought it worked better that the one night stand they hand led Shane to feel there was more there than what was really there and his obsession with Lori pushed him over the edge. The set up in the TV series seems a little forced to me, and they really don't seem to be playing it up as much as I thought they would.

Merle:
Evidently, we don't see Merle in anymore episodes this season.

I'm not really disappointed with that. I don't want the comic word for word. Just don't stray too far from it.

I'm glad they kept Jim's decision intact, BUT, I'm a little upset they didn't show him getting up as Zombie Jim and then turning towards the city to shamble off. The fact that he did that in the comic was so poignant and horrifying at the same time.

Jim, as a zombie ... remembered his family and went to join them. That's ****ED up.

I was a bit worried where the scene with Shane and Rick was going in the woods. Interesting that Dale caught sight of Shane aiming at Rick too.

Not so sure about this CDC thing.. it's been done before.. I liked that the comic didn't have them try to hit the government agencies.

Yeah. For that matter, why would'nt he just take them back to the jailhouse. He probaly still has guns there. There's hot water, etc. Nah, that's okay...we will just stay out in the woods, with virtualy no defense.

In the comics, the whole hot water thing wasn't there. And from what I recall correctly, Rick and Morgan cleared out all the weapons cache from the jailhouse (I recall Rick stating he cleared out the weapons and ammo in the third episode, "Tell It to the Frogs.")

yeah, Im not feeling the whole CDC thing either.. Why is there always just 1 person left in those type of places..

Yeah, I swear if they go along with the cliche, tripe, insane scientist who butchered the survivors in the CDC to try to find a cure for the disease at the cost of everyone else and starts doing it Rick's group, I'm going to be pissed.

The Walking Dead was original, it didn't keep going to the tripe stories already done.

Here's hoping things get interesting instead of trite and banal,

is it just me or did the guy in the preview really say "The French held out the longest"

The FRENCH??? that had me chuckling :lol

Yeah. I can believe zombies are walking, but the French being able to hold out on any kind of assault? Talk about being a little unbelievable. :lol

I'm getting sick and tired of watching them run past dead soldiers, tanks, .50 cal's and ammo loaded armor and vests and not stopping to pickup and reload... like tonights episode at the CDC how many M-16's did you see at those check points... argh. Show's great otherwise... it better keep going!

The CDC building doesn't afford the same protection as the prison did in the book.
The thing with the M-16s...I'd think the magazines would be empty. They'd have to lug them around looking for ammo.
