The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

Was a good episode. I wonder if Jim will make an appearance later on as a walker. And now that Jenner has survivors with guns it shouldnt be too hard to go out, plug a walker in the dome, and bring it in for tests. But that's too easy for the story :lol.

I hope they don't end up going the 'evil scientist' route, given that he's lost his 'fresh meat' and all...

That concerns me as well. I don't mind that they are straying from the comic, but I really, really hope they don't take that road.

It would be interesting if they do show Jim at a later point, but in the comics and Kirkman said in interviews that he made sure to never let that happen. He said the possibilities of running into someone you left behind as a walker and have them show re show up is slim to none (as seen with the prisoner Andrew in the comics). I also thought it was interesting that I read in an interview when they asked Kirkman if he named some people the same name on a few occasions by accident. His answer was along the lines of "It would be pretty common to run into someone with such a common name as "Chris""

As for the testing on zombies, they do eventually do that in the comics, so I can see that happening. :)

Was talking about this during lunch today and a buddy had a good question. In Guts, when they are smearing themselves with guts and blood, they made sure not to get any on their skin. Now they kill walkers with no protection. Are they not worried about getting the blood on themselves? I read on another forum where someone thinks it's an airborn virus and everyone already has it but can only turn into a walker if they die or are bit and the zombie spit activates the virus. I'm more thinking plot hole.

Well the way it works in the comics is that everyone is infected but it only activates when you die, so even if you just get shot to death you still turn. I think in Guts the "don't get any on your skin" thing was just them being overly cautious because it's not like zombie blood on you would kill you unless it got in your eyes, nose, ears or mouth. Then again, the "skin" thing seems to come up for a lot of people as a complaint against the show, so I think I'm in the minority on not really caring about that particular point.

Just getting on the skin I can understand not infecting someone but taking a blunt object to the head is going to spray some blood which can get in the eyes, mouth, open wound.

I havent read the comics yet. Want to pick them up after next week's episode but dont want to read past the show.

RE: "Wildfire"

My thought was that 'wildfire' was their little corporate-style buzz word for the point where they realized the outbreak couldn't be contained.

Generally, I enjoyed the episode. The moments with Amy and Andrea were very poignant and Jim's final request was also painful.

I like where the story has taken us; it's not about the zombies, or even about the survival aspect. it's about the people and how they cope, or not.

I inferred that it was the in-house term for a plague/epidemic that had gone past their ability to control/quarantine.

Edit: which is what Firesprite said.

I'm enjoying it, but I do wish they'd done the comic adaptation a little more closely. At the moment it's a zombie show with some of the characters from the book in a different story.

That's a pretty horrible idea. That means that the show will have no direction... several different freelance writers will want to take the show in several different directions. Why fire anyone either? The show is the highest rated thing AMC has going for it.

I knew they would do something stupid to ruin it, Told my old man too and he didn't believe me.

Me and him are gonna say good bye to the show the only way we know how.
Cake and a bon-fire :thumbsup

Yeah, no writing staff means this series will be as smooth as Andromeda. This is where I wish the writer of the comic would step in and pimp slap Darabont and say "Oh Hell No."

Ah Andromeda, have I got an interesting story about that one, might post a topic about it after I get the rest of the details ironed out.

Please do, it went from a show with a good Premise and storyline to a royal MESS.

I am perfectly happy with where the show is going. And so is Kirkman. He has stated that the freedom of the show allows it to go off on different paths, and then return to the comics original path. He urged readers to hang in there, and that stuff like the CDC, etc, were just little off shoots that were going to curve back into the comic storyline soon enough. He has faith. And I have faith in Darabont.

I see a lot of people hating on this thing. But a lot of us are madly in love with it, and obviously the ratings don't like that much either.

Re: Walking Dead tv series news

I actually preferred Moore's work in the first few issues over Adlard's but it's all good.

Agreed 10x. I've been trying to read the second trade (and the third and fourth, which I all have here waiting for me) and I'm finding it so much more difficult to read than the first trade. I was able to zip through the first one a few twice, but find myself stalling in the second...

It's not that it's bad, it's just that Moore was so good.
