The Ultimate X-Wing Pilot Thread

Sorry guys and gals, my web server is acting up temporarily and my 2 pictures about the buckle are unavailable at the moment. They told me it should take less than 24 ours for things to be fixed.

I have the box and the vest from mansugi and they absolutely rock!!
If you need a box or vest, contact him.:thumbsup

Here is the paint scheme that I used for all my Xboxes.

It is called Smoke Grey...it does have the bluish tint in it. For comparison...the middle rocker switch is medium dark grey.

What is/are the correct edge trim for the helmets?
I have seen in HD closeups of Luke's helmet in ESB that a square U-profile is being used, but I am not sure about the other helmets.
The edge trim on the APH helmets has a rounded U-profile. Would these be accurate?

I don't know if a "balls-on" edge trim source has ever been found. It was probably custom-extruded like the trooper brow trim. The original APH trim is much smaller than what was used on the final screenused helmets.

Why would it be custom-extruded? I don't think that that would make much sense.
In any case, I have a local source of what looks like the ESB type, and I don't expect it to be that uncommon.

Well, I only say that because the trooper one was. Ainsworth apparently had the equipment for it, so I figure if he did it for one helmet he did it for another. Either way, it isn't the APH trim, because that is held on by metal brackets that don't seem to show in the vac pulls.

This pic shows the trim on the APH-6 I used for my sculpt, showing the metal clips that secure the trim near the oxygen mask fitting.

There are good pics on starwarshelmets.com of a screen used x-wing that show the trim pretty well,it looks to be a squared off channel.

I got my costume finished enough for Rebel Legion membership a while ago .... but my long term plan is to make a Snowspeeder pilot costume.

I wonder if there is a source for the Hoth comm pad? Anybody know?
It is the same as Luke wears, but not the same as Rebel soldiers, and not the same as the AT-AT drivers.

Vince/CE did a Hoth comm pad (not the AT-AT one). Don't know it's the one you're looking for or if it's even making them any more but it may be worth dropping him a line.

Ya got any pix of the helmet to show off your paint job?
I gather is mostly red. Nice to see some custom paint.

Left, Right, Front, Back, Top, and a good shot of the inside to show off the assembly process.

Lancer, :lol. Thanks!

I'm still waiting for my decals to come in. Right now it's nothing but paint so rather boring. It's a Richies and he did the painting for me, since I'm hopeless when it comes to that sort of thing.

Whoo hoo! Nice bucket [edit]Reactor Drone[/edit]!

Hey all,
Is there a 'Show off your x-wing helmet' thread?

I'd like to see inside shots showing construction details.
Nobody ever shows the guts of these things.
Remember even if it looks like crap to you, a well focused picture
might provide insight to the process for a clueless dolt like me.

Hi Jonny5
here is a shot of one of my SDS X-Wing Helmets that I had modified to move the visor up and down.

Whoo hoo! Nice bucket Y-WF!
