I know it’s another Iron man project but I plan to make it different to any other that I have found here or on the net.
I’m planning to build an Iron man bust (to begin with might do full armour??) for my study/ man cave. I’m a huge fan of the iron man movies and after a vast research on the net I stumbled on to the rpf and discovered pepakura and decided I had to make an Iron man Bust. I have been searching through the forum for a couple of months now and have collected/researched/ been inspired by all of the work that is on here.
So here’s my plan.
· To make the metal under armour as the base of the bust, this will house a replica arc reactor. (I will upload CAD Model of proposed structure once I get around to it) I’m thinking that it will be a mixed material build, i.e. metal base structure then pep, foam or cardboard to make it more movie accurate.
· Then use modified pep files of the chest piece (which will house the Unibeam) and back piece and attach to the base structure. (Will be able to be removed to see arc and metal under armour)
· Plan to motorise flaps on the back maybe??
· Also thinking of including servos for the shoulder missiles/bullets from Iron man 1 and the helmet to open and close.
· I want to make a bust that looks a realistic as possible. In saying that I’m not planning on making it 100% movie accurate as it will be too hard to do for what I have planned.
· I’m not exactly sure which Mk to do just yet as I’m tossing up between the Mk2, Mk 3 or Mk 4.
I have just finished my engineering degree and I am pretty adapt with CAD and building things so hopefully it should turn out alright. I’m about to move house in a couple of weeks so that has put a halt to the start of the build for a little while. So once I have moved and setup my new garage/ workshop I will be into it.
So the main reason I am posting at this early stage is to do some more research of the under armour and get any suggestion from all the awesome users on rpf and make it a collaborative project.
So a few questions for all of you guys.
Which Mk to build?
Any reference pictures?
Best Pep files? (I have a bunch from all the usual suspects but I liked to hear who you all recon have the best hd iron man files)
