"The Sounds of Star Wars" book

Has anyone picked up "The Sounds of Star Wars" book? It deals with the sound design of Star Wars and sounds (no pun intended) like it might be interesting to read/listen to. The promo video says that the samples are "full-stereo, high-fidelity" and that you can listen through headphones.

I've always loved the sound design of Star Wars and am thinking of getting the book. Curious to hear from those who have it.

Though I'm Trek fan, I'm also a big sound effects fan and Burtt is definitely for me the king of modern sond effects. This sounds (no pun intended) a very unique piece...

I sure hope the sounds are better through the headphones because the onboard speaker SUCKED when I was in Borders messing with it.

That's my primary concern ... I'm hoping the promo video is truthful about the hi-quality stereo through headphones sound. Maybe I'll just go to Borders with my headphones and try to plug in.

It separates most of the effects really nice, no underscore or other sounds underneath them. I can't speak for the stereo quality, but I want it

Being a big Ben Burtt fan and sound geek myself, I was getting giddy with excitement listening to the original sound elements. If the headphone jack definitely has the sound in stereo and in good quality too, the $60 would be well worth it.

I have been fascinated with the sound design of Star Wars ever since I learned that the ones used for the Landspeeder were re-used for the Back to the Future DeLorean.

I learned a bit about them last year, when I went to the prop and costume exhibit in Sydney. They used some amazing techniques, some were just insane...out of the blue ideas.
