I´m from Germany and new to the RPF.

I´ve been watchin you since a while and now I think its time to register and show you my current project.

I will upload a few Pic´s of may collection also, but first here the pictures of the rocket.

Still a lot work to do but I think i´m on the right way.

I've always wanted to see someone tackle this (or do it myself), as this is a "holy grail" propr for me.

How did you do the green spheres?

How did you string them together?

Are you going for complete screen accuracy, or a close resemblence?

It will not be 100% screen accurate but as far I can get it. The Ball´s are made of glass ( Was the cheapest solution, 1,30 € per piece) they are not stringed, we tried to drill the Ball´s but it breaked in thousend pieces. The Rocket wil be unremovable, its one piece when it´s finished so you can not pull out the Spheres.

For now I´m working on the upper circle and the electronics then sanding and Painting. Hopefully next month I finished the Project.

The next one is already on my bench.:love

Just out of curiosity, what size balls did you use? And where did you get yours? This looks great.

The Balls are 40mm and i get it from here

Glaskugel 40mm grn, 4cm grne Glaskugeln - Schreiber-Glas

For those who want to build one too, i make a Drill template, its in German but if you print it out everything should be clear.

Not a bad solution. No bubbles or actual gel then (and they won't smell nice!), but the size and the color are just about a perfect match to the screen used spheres.

I love The Rock - fun film. I own a couple of fun "toys" from that one...
