The Pulp Avenger... The Shadow WIP

Thanks to another member on this forum, not only have I returned to the RPF for the first time since 2016, but I have finally started on my costume build of the pulp avenger himself THE SHADOW. The man Batman wishes to be when he grows up.

Fortunately this is a wickedly easy costume to piece together because of how grounded in reality the character is compared to most superheroes so I had to be specific in what I used to capture that 1930s flair. But, first I had some reading to do and where better to start than with the pulps by Maxwell Grant(Walter B Gibson), so I read the first 10 books, which were surprisinglydifficult to track down. Then some comics, over 100+ episodes of the radio drama, a metric ton of art, and then the film from 94. The takeaways I got from all of this is the following items are needed:
*A wide brimmed hat, so either a wide brimmed fedora for the comic/movie look or a slouch hat for book accuracy.
*a 6 button double breasted overcoat
*a black leather double holster for 2 1911 pistols
*black leather gloves
*a red scarf. This is only ever seen in the cover art, comics and film, but has become iconic to the characters appearance.
*Black suit, so.ething every man should have in their closet.
*black "dracula" cape with red lining as this also became iconic to the character art and was mentioned in the the books. Even Walter B Gibson described the character as a benevolent Dracula type character.

Some of these items I already had on hand so I had a decent start, the other items I tracked down on Amazon.

The jacket looks good, has a nice sinched waist for a more lean and clean appearance.

The holsters... I feel like that tv cop that's had it with this bs lol. I had to cut the belt loops off as there was no way to attach a belt that wouldn't ruin the overall appearance of the coat.

Like I said, an easy enough costume to put together. THE SHADOW KNOWS! HAHAHA

Nice! I put one together a couple years ago, pretty sure I bought the exact same cape. I've never actually debuted it because it was too hot that year on Halloween.

I would put a some more swoop in your hat brim to give it more character.

Ive been able to wear my full leather Dredd suit in the midwest heat without issue, so I think I'll be fine if its a little hot lol. I'm not exactly sure if a polyester hat can be shaped like a wool or beaver felt though. Never actually tried it. I would love to get a real slouch but they seem to only make them for women.

Very nice to see yours done! I posted on my thread about wearing mine to work for Halloween.

I am gonna trade up the harness I got for mine for the one you got, I couldn't find one like that so kudos for finding the right style harness. And my girlfriend suggested next year I get a more period correct trench.
