The Official Boycott Star Wars Bluray thread

Why?

Sounds like all you are doing is keeping yourself from doing something that you really WANT to do.

You can like the originals AND these versions.

I like every version of Blade Runner and I watch them all.

i do like the special editions (with a few exceptions). i love the OT. but refuse to give me 1 more cent because he refuses to give me the originals AND the special editions.

heres how it works

you dont giva me originals, i dont giva you moola. no ticky no laundry!

Got mine a day early and I must say they look really good. Yea George jerks us around with all the releases but...I'm a fan and these films have never looked better. Vaders saber is red again, yoda doesn't look like a wacked out puppet in ep. 1. I'm glad I got them...and I'm really glad I got it a day early.

Best review.. ever

This review is from: Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Wow what a great release! These movies were so borign when I watched them as a kid. It was nothing but wordz and bad special affect's. But now there are zany cartoons farting added into the scenes and digital updates to make them canonically match the awesome prequels! Awesome, rite??

Also they make Darth Vader say "NOOOOOO...!" when the throws the Emperor into the pit! That's great because at first, I didn't get why he threw the Emporor into the pit. But now I understand he was thinking "NOOOO"!

5 stars A+

Oh good! I wasn't the only one who didn't originally understand what was going on when Vader picked up the Emperor to throw him over. I was thinking to myself for years, "Did he suddenly come down with a personality disorder? It's like they should insert some sort of dialogue in there because I just couldn't see what Vader was thinking the way it was perfectly portrayed in those shots."

I know this doesn't help, but, at no point in Star Wars does anyone identify Obi-wan's Sandpeople scaring scream.....so it doesn't HAVE to sound like an animal.

The original scream was just a Dewback and always had me saying, "how can a person make a noise like that?"

The DVD scream was just plain ridiculous.....didn't sound like anything much.

(Don't kill me) The BD scream at least sounds a bit like a human using the Force for emphasis.......

I know, i'm rationalising here.....

I believe in the original novel, it's stated Obi-Wan gave a yell of the Krayt Dragon to scare them off.

.. to me it sounds a bit more like the creature noises we hear in the prequels. I'm sure that's part of the effort to connect the two trilogies in small ways stylistically. Just like seeing a 'Dug' walking through Jabba's palace.

Please don't tell me this is how a new scene in Jurassic Park III will look in next month's Jurassic Park Blu-Ray set release.

"I've got it! Replace the 'Raptors with Ewoks! The *CUTE* factor will be off the charts!
"While we're at it, we'll replace the Jeeps with Podracers, which will crank up the T-rex chase to ELEVEN!
Oh! Oh! And, the T-rex! We'll make him....Oh let's see... OH! Perfect! A Nazi! A GIANT Nazi! Searching for the Lost Ark, hidden in the park!
"Damn! This has fan-favourite, written all OVER it!"

As much as I really despise most of the changes made to the films, I have to say watching all the new bonus material and the new commentaries (while watching the films) was pretty cool.
