I have Tron: Legacy and Iron Man 2 on Blu-Ray and I don't own a BR player so obviously I have a greater appreciation of cinema than Cayman. :lol
Anybody would--I'm an uncultured savage apparently :lol

I will say, though, Cayman.. Looking at your avatar, I've got to tell you that Seven Samurai is one hell of a Blu-ray.![]()
Actually, I couldn't tell you, I never owned the other editions (so the Blu-ray was a no-brainer). The BD is also Criterion, so it could be the same master, just higher resolution.Ugh! Really? I have two different translations on DVD (the original and the gorgeous box-set Criterion). Is it worth the upgrade? I could get to the end of that movie and just hit play all over again. Damn it's good.
I simply think it is narrow minded to dismiss an entire format because you dont agree with one directors attitude towards his product, which is what i think this entire thread has been about, if i am off the mark with that then i`ll dip me lid and bow out.
Nwerke, id quote some colourful adjectives under your username but i hardly thinks its ethical and or board allowed practice.
So it all hinges on one movie trilogy, such a narrow view of cinema.
I would not judge it as offensive but i will concede it was flipant. My posts were short and to the point. I was not waveing any INSERT NAME HERE movie diplomas at anybodyEDIT: I guess I can't multi-quote properly, haha!
That's the second time I've heard you talk about waving diplomas, as if we're film snobs (or you're anti-education?!). But then you take a dig at my "narrow view of cinema"? Maybe I just don't get where you're coming from. Are you pro-film education or anti-film education? Are you anti ivory tower academic but want to expand people's view of cinema? I'm lost.
As for BR: this WHOLE thread is about how I'd like the OOT on BR. I support the format, I just don't have funds to justify upgrading until a major event pushes me to do so. I'm not one that needs the latest and greatest tech. I loved film in the 80s on VHS, I love it now on DVD and streaming, and someday I'll love it on BR.
No, just have a problem with bleeters and people who like the look of their own words, know anyone like that?
Good work Dick Tracy.
