The Noob Field Guide to Pep Costuming

@The Armorer,
I've caught quite a few of your posts, and appreciate that I'm not the only one who answers questions that most regs won't take the time to resolve. Thank you for taking the time to contribute both your knowledge and resources here; the insight you contribute is very appreciated. :thumbsup

:$ Oh, gee thunks! :$

I'm just trying to be helpful, whenever I have needed a question answered, or I was looking for something I always hoped for an answer on the forum I was asking, if I'm able to answer the question, then I'm more than glad to help someone accomplish their dreams/projects! :)

Hey, I just wanted to put it out there, if anyone finds any problems with the links, or where the links leads please let me know, also I've added a link to a Darth Nihilus mask.

Have fun everyone!

Hey, added:

BUMBLEBEE

FALLOUT 3 T51 POWER ARMOR

I was going to add a pip boy to the list but there isn't a working unfold/model that would work, if you want a pip boy it would be better to buy a resin cast of it by one of the members, just search pip boy with the search bar.

I'm thinking about starting a new pep wiki, I know the original was created by (banned) pepmaster (vagabond, nintendude) and though I don't want to tread on him, I think we need a new one, is there anyone up for this idea? I would also want to expand it into an all around costuming tutorial wiki as well, not to take away from this forum or any other, just for tutorials and how to's with useful links.

Opinions?

I think it's a great idea. Just having a one-stop toolbox of information for Pepakura that's easy to use would help a lot of people.

This would be awesome if I could find a pep reader for mac..
anybody know of anything? (I'm not too keen on installing windows)

Nope still nonexistent that I know of. I think it would be helpful to even have a quick how-to for taking a PC user's scaled .PDO and making it at least printable for a Mac user. Convert the .PDO to a .PDF format, then send as attachment to the Mac user? I've no idea.

Oh my god thank you so much. I am a noob, and have been DYING to get into this. Doing my first build (will be posting a thread soon) now and then I want to get into a pep project. So I have subscribed to this.

Thank you, but really you should also be thanking the modellers themselves, be sure to drop them a thank you as a visitor message ;)

I'll be doing a massive update with the file links.

If anyone is interested in helping me create a wiki with these shoot me a PM, me and Krizalid are going to need a lot of help, and to the modellers who've made the models, I'll be sending pm's for permission to put the links to their models on the wiki.

How on earth do you make something from scratch in Pepakura?? I have downloaded the software and I'm trying to make a Kamen Rider Nadeshiko helmet but I haven't found any tutorials that TEACH you how to model in 3D using that software. :(

You don't make the models in pepakura. You use a 3D program like max, blender etc and then export your model as an .obj file then open that in pepakura. Unfold and save it and you have your .pdo.

Pepakura is not used to create 3d models, only to convert already-made files to a 2d format to print. The models have to be created in modeling software such as Blender (free), 3DSMAX, Solidworks, etc. There are a lot of tutorials that can be found for these programs online to get started.

That makes SO much sense now... Thanks everyone!

If anyone knows where I can find a KR Nadeshiko pep file, it would be highly appreciated! :)

Any tutorials coming down the pike? y 9 year old is interested in trying some simple pep and I want to do some as well. Some tut's regarding resin, glassing use of foam etc would be extremely helpful :thumbsup

Thanks to all who contributed so far this is awesome!

the wiki is coming....

Yes it is ;)

Alright, I've decided where I'm going to have the wiki hosted and the setup, I just need a proper name. There already a pepakura wiki, and its my hope to eventually add sections regarding other aspects of display costuming so here a my question, what does everyone think of "cosplay costuming wiki"?

Please list any other suggestions for the name you have in mind.
