Too bad. It looks more like a turtle than the football cartoony ones from previous films. Then again, I'm pretty sure a mask like that would scare the hell out of the kids who went to see the movie.

Hey...I liked how they look! :)

Don't worry about Jet.... He hates pretty much anything 99% of most people love. But he has a huge ***** for Godzilla and pretty much all crappy Japanese men in cheesiest costumes imaginable type movies :lol:lol:lol:lol

And for the record I'm glad that turtle thing isn't how it's gonna be.

Yeah, as already posted, if you scroll down the artist disputes it.

It kind of grew on me after a few seconds. Def. an interesting, and much darker, take on the characters.

God, ANOTHER turtle reboot?! Let it die already.

Not sure if I like the not the real deal turtle above. Might be cool...

bummer it isn't legit. i really like the look. it reminds me of the 3-issue michael zulli TMNT run.

the rumor on the street is that the TMNT reboot will be live-action with CG turtle faces... kinda like what was done with WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. could be cool... could be awful... i have my fingers crossed.

Oh, yes you know me sooooo well:rolleyes. And just to be clear - i hate things ahead of most people - it just takes some a little while to catch up and realize new doesn't always mean better.

And i like the old Turtles too, but they did look cartoony - Perhaps the cartoon dictated how they appeared in the film.

And Godzilla and Ultraman rule - that is all

I wish the Turtles would have the original edge the Eastman & Laird debuted them with.

That sculpt head piece looks pretty cool, its growing on me regardless of what its for.

The cowabunga thing always rubbed me wrong.

a little too freaky looking for my tastes.

Though - that look would go perfectly in Nolan's Batman world. TDK vs. TMNT crossover! WOO HOO!

Ninjutsu-trained Bruce Wayne vs Ninjutsu-trained mutant turtles!!! OH YEAH!!!! :love

Pity this thing isnt legit though... I hated the campy "cowabunga" turtles from the cartoons and movies and kinda wished they were darker and more violent characters just like real-world ninjas. This sculpt looks perfect for a more realistic re-imagining of the idea.

I'm all about the cartoony cowabunga ninja turtles. That's what I grew up on and that's how I like them. Besides, how can TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES not be campy? Just look at the name and the concept itself.

Well that was a mild heart attack averted. My eyes have images too burned in of the Eastman/Laird and movie versions of the turtles. I think these designs look really creepy and I don't know if I could warm up to that.

Of course my initial thoughts on Ledger's Joker look made me feel rotten, but as I got to see the previews more was a lot more embracing and understanding of why they did that.

Anyway... for now... I REALLY hope they DON'T go that direction, but who knows... I guess we'll see!

See, like you the first TMNT I knew were the campy cowabunga turtles. But as soon as I got hold of one of the Trades of the original Mirage run of comics (via a family friend who'd just returned from the states), I was all over that. My schoolfriends at the time didn't understand why all the turtles I drew were 'Raphaels', or why I drew their faces weird. Still prefer that version to this day. Also it shocks me on recent viewing how closely the first movie followed the original comic books (albeit mixing together different elements of different storylines from the first series of issues). At the time it must have been the most accurate comic > film adaptation around, surely?

I really dig this design. I think any creepiness factor would be governed by the character behind it, how the face animated, how the voice sounded. I dig it. Now if only the guy behind it would appear on the RPF and do a JY run... ;)
