The Last of Us HBO Joel Thread

Ok. Well, I have good news and bad news. Did some digging. The standard looking buckles--the ones that go over the twin straps that secure the open main compartment of the backpack in place--are fairly standard, and I can recommend a hardware supplier if needed. That's the good news. The bad news is that the military looking buckles, these:

were entirely custom milled. If you were hardcore enough, I assume you could have someone here mill them if they had the hardware, or maybe potentially 3d print them and then cast them in metal. There are a few sort of lookalikes if you google "metal cinch buckles", and these almost look like they were taken from a flight or military harness of some kind. I get that the ones from the show were custom made, but the game version, like the watch, presumably had some sort of real world inspiration. I'd like to think something similar exists out there.
Darn, that's what I was afraid of. I already got buckles for the closure straps. Thanks for looking into it.

Jameel Ur if you are planning a run not sure if this is something you can have made or source similar. If anyone in this thread has cnc milling equipment would make sense to do a run and either bulk ship to Jameel, or let members add them to their bags for extra accuracy.

I have started a separate thread for backpack.
I'm working on mock-up sample, block patterns done today.
I only have one issue, there is one adjustable buckle couldn't find here so I'll use similar that I can find here.
The price is economical $120 including shipping.
Please hands up Who is interested.
I'll post updates soon.
Thanks.

I was talking about that adjustable buckle.
I couldn't find here.
So I'm planning to use similar ones.

Link to the thread please.
Hope someone following this thread might be willing to custom make the buckles.

Btw, UPDATE:

I have acquired all pieces of the Joel watch, except the dial (which is coming in the mail this week!), and the movement holder (can't find it). WE'RE 90% THERE FOLKS.

Does anyone have suggested for the broken mineral?

The only thing that I am looking for, other than a movement holder, is I'm still trying to look at creating custom watch dial hands for the birthday watch.

Does anyone have the resources to draft up a .stl file and get these babies printed/or CNC'd (so we can have metal hands)?

Hello I may have a solution for the broken face I will post more soon I have been experimenting with different types of vinyl stickers that might work to re-create the broken watch face glass

Thank God. As much as I want to find like 5 - 10 mineral glass discs and hand crack them while I have the watch all set up, I don’t know if I want to chance breaking something internal to the watch lol.

A clear vinyl sticker would be awesome to have. Like in a pack of 5-10.

BTW, I got a photo of the laser etched watch face from the maker I reached out to!

I also have been getting 3-4 pieces of every piece of the watch. If you guys would like a complete build, let me know…. We can discuss $. No obligation though!

I'm fairly confident I've found the undershirt worn under the Fjallraven shirt. Unfortunately its NOT the Todd Snyder sweatshirt and the thing that tipped me off was actually from the latest ep of Ted Lasso in Amsterdam. He's wearing an orange Todd Snyder x Champion sweatshirt, and the v-stitch at the collar is too big to match the undershirt in the Last of Us. Also, in the scene wearing Joel is digging Henry's grave, you can see the hem style, and its not that longer "sweatshirt" type hem, it matches to this shirt.
Its from National Athletic Goods, their Gym tee in Oatmeal. Made in Canada and can't buy direct from them but stocked at a decent amount of stores. Pretty sure its oatmeal, but lighting could make it look that colour when its actually the ash grey

These images below really sealed it for me; right click and click "open image in new tab" to see higher res version.

How are you able to get such good screenshots? Can you get good ones of his Henry backpack in episodes 8 and 9. Want references to help for Jameel's build if he doesn't have photos already.

Not sure if he's doing the Henry backpack or just the original. I'd confirm, but more references couldn't hurt.

So I'm pretty sure after Kansas City, Joel lost his original backpack, and then after Henry and Sam, Joel acquired Henry's backpack, and that's what he uses ending the season.
