The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread

Hey all, sorry for bumping an old thread but I'm scouring the internet for info on the custom 80s fit ROLA jacket from Wested.

I see a few members have the jacket in question. Is it noticeably slimmer than the normal jacket (constrictive chest circumference)? Do the shoulder seams hang off as much as the normal jacket?

I love the look of the ROLA jacket and I'm a huge Indy fan, but I'm looking for more of a street-wearable leather jacket that a style-forward guy can wear while also showing my love of the Indy movies.

I'm wondering if I should order my normal chest size or size down. Of course, I don't want to size down if the slim fit is super slim. I'm not a huge guy (5'8", 160lbs) and I live in the US so I can't go to their warehouse and ask. In addition, Gemma has been very very slow at answering any of my emails.

Any help from the superfans would be much appreciated. Keep up the awesome forums, there's so much info here!

Really want to know what size you got and how it looks! I'm about the same size as you and had the same questions

Hi all here are some pics of my jackets. Both Westeds. One cotton Raiders for going out in and a pre distressed Raiders in cow hide. Love them both butbthe cotton version fits like a dream. I'm sure the leather one will fit as well once ive worn it in a bit.

Last pic is of some of my Indy gear together although I have a nicer hat now....

Has anybody bought or seen a jacket by Flesh and Hide? I'm thinking of purchasing one but I'm not sure on the quality.

i purchased indiana jones jacket from amazon store for my adventure trip. No doubt the quality is excellent and stitched well. here you can also check: https://www.amazon.com/Harrison-Indiana-Jones-Leather-Jacket/dp/B01D4KR6LS/

You're joking, right?

You've got three posts and all of them are links to low-quality replicas...

meh for a little more you could get a real one, a Wested

C'mon folks. I don't know Sarah Edward's financial status, but I think it's safe to say not everyone can afford, or has the desire to pay for, higher quality replicas. If she's happy with the jacket, isn't that what really matters?

I'm catching a whiff of dirty socks like Indy Magnoli

Today I purchased one of the older licensed jackets from (I believe) back in the 80s (circa last crusade I think) on eBay. I know they aren't exactly accurate but for me it was close enough and looks really solid for its age. It's got a nice patina from natural age too. For my first jacket purchase it's good I'm excited to receive it. Maybe someday I'll upgrade to a wested or something, but this is fine for now :) and it was a good price.

I'll post pics once I receive it. I'm pumped up in anticipation.

Nothing wrong with some of those older licensed ones... I've still got mine from '94 and have worn it all over the world and it still looks great.

I have a goat hide Flight Suits/Gibson & Barnes jacket. It is tough as nails and incredibly warm. It's also damn heavy. I picked it up about 4-5 years ago and it's worn quite well.

Prior to that, I had a Wested lambskin for about 10 years. Lovely jacket, but not remotely durable. It scratched quite easily (in the sense of taking off the top level of treated hide), and rubbed in certain places. The lining completely wore out, too. I'm much happier thus far with my G&B.

As promised, here's some pics of the licensed jacket I purchased. It arrived yesterday :) I love the natural distressing that's happened to it over time. Also, not that it matters, but it has a surprisingly pleasant smell.

Looks good!

I know what you mean about the smell: there's something about fresh leather. Maybe it goes back to our caveman days?

Indy is 100% correct. The only thing Indy about that jacket is the name. You can get a TODDS which is excellent for about $150 new. Or an amazing custom fit jacket that is very affordable from Steele & Jones!

This is the Wested I bought last year directly from them. It's the 'hero' cut jacket in shrunken lambskin. It's very comfortable but still needs to be worn in a bit more. The striations in the leather are very cool. Nothing like what you'd see in a Tony Nowak 'Raiders' jacket, but still present. Also got an advintage 'Raiders' bash fedora earlier this year. This is a great alternative to a AB or J. Penman. For a handmade hat, it's quite reasonably priced.20160716_104220-1.jpg

Raiders March, that is one fine looking hat, IMO. They nailed the pinch! I have AB and Pennman, but never an Avdintage. I heard they do a great job. I'm waiting on a custom Raiders SOC style from Steele & Jones at the moment. It's probably still a few weeks out.

Here is a shot of a Wested I got 2nd hand a few years back. It was stiff as a board and I was very dissapointed...until I hand massaged in a few coats of Pecards Leather Conditioner. Now it's one of my most comfortable jackets. The hat is an older AB, Lee Keppler holster, TODDS pants, Aldens boots, and Jeremy McEachern whip.

I'll bet you can't wait to wear it! Advintage also do a streets of cairo, heres a pic below. Hang on to that holster, it comes from pretty much an original gearhead, who knew how to find this stuff before the internet!
