The Hobbit - Weta Replicas / Collectibles - Launching Monday 1 OCtober

I'd mostly been posting in another thread on here but while google hunting found this one. Pics for you guys to look, have albums on profile. Laters. :rolleyes:thumbsup

Here is my mini Deed of Contract finished, finally. It is smaller than the original. About 8 inches across, a third smaller than the original. I am going to try and make a 1:1. The stitching really makes the prop.

The $30 version is awesome and a nice addition to my collection but to have one with the stitching and wax is incredible. It really brings it to life.

Best,
DBCooper

Extremely impressive work. :thumbsup

Very nice DBCooper and very well done. Congratulations :thumbsup Looks amazing.
Iam looking forward to see your 1:1 version :popcorn

Today my UC Gandalf staff arrived...

Well, I'm happy to have it, sure, but after all, I'm a little bit disappointed...

It's really heavy, not so easy to walk around with it or make it a part of a costume...

In my opinion they could have make it look more like wood... It looks like a heavy piece of resin, it's alittle bit shiny, I don't think a wooden staff would look like this...

The paintjob could be better, too...

Thanks to DBCooper's guidance and help, I was able to make this replica as well. :)

The panels are printed on 165gsm watercolor paper and weathered with coffee.
Stitching the panels together was a b***h of a task! :lol I used hemp twine for authenticity and once done, I waxed the ends together like the prop. I also tried to replicate all the folds and creases as seen in the Weta replica.

Here's the end result:

Thanks again, DB! :)

I also have to thank DBCooper for help with the contract. I was able to basically finish it today, need to get some green ribbon still.

Here's a couple of shots, the second with a print that was given to me recently signed by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt (obviously before Tim's passing.) For those that don't know, The Brothers Hildenbrandt are most famous for doing the original Star Wars poster.

I used inkjet on mine. My laser won't handle pages that size (11x22 before tearing). I just had to go slow with the aging and made mine a bit more subtle (there's more than the picture shows, the flash washes it out).

What size did you print these at? 11x22? I thought it was only 8.5x22 and would fit through most any printer, or is there a larger scale to this piece that I'm not aware of.

Yes, I printed it on 11x22, then tore a bit off all the edges. The final width comes in around 9", same as the Weta version.
