Is this getting edited into the redone shots of this TV episode?

I forgot what the old ship looked like, if it was even there.

Huh? I saw the remastered "Arena" and didnt' see this ship. Where was it?

Maybe it was in the 10 minutes of footage thy had to cut out for commercials?

Could be, the episodes here are being cut up REAL bad, they run on a Cleveland area, low end old WB station.

The Phaser overload in the alley was cut out of “City on the Edge of Forever” completely, it went from Bones face down right to him in the soup kitchen. It was one of the worst edits I’ve ever seen.

Everyone has the same edits. They're sent out that way.

Has any reason been given for them? Some seem odd at best.

The difference between commercial break time today as opposed to the late sixties. I have a hunch the full length broadcast version is being saved for a DVD release.

So you will buy the DVD.
The real reason for the edits. Advertising time. Shows are much shorter today.

Yeah, so I can buy new versions of Trek just as many times as I have Star Wars. :p

So are they running these on WB affiliates? I haven't been able to find out when or where it is on. I have satelite tv, so I know it has to be on somewhere. Anybody?

Bill

They're syndicated, meaning it could be any of your local channels, or none. Just depends on who picked it up. (It replaced reruns of Enterprise, if that helps.)

Same here, my dumbass Fox affiliate ran Catspaw 2 weeks in a row. After the previous couple of redux episodes were pushed aside for baseball. :angry

That Gorn ship looks very nice. I wish we saw it better in the episode.

As for the new effects, I like what they are trying to do, but wish they had a better FX team doing it.
IMHO the computer generated stuff they did for DS9's Trials and Tribulations was better. The ship looks good but the nacelle ends look "cartoonish" and it really ruins it for me.
Watching "Catspaw" the other night: The castle was cool, the planet looks excellent, then the Enterprise passes in front of it and the lighting doesn't match what's on the planet. Then the nacelle tips come into view and it looks like an animated series shot.
I understand they saved money by using an internal CBS group to do the Visual effects instead of Dan Curry, Ron Moore or Gary Hutzel & Doug Drexler but I think those folks would have done a better job.
Mike Okuda and Dave Rossi are certainly trying to keep true to the original and making subtle changes ("The Devil in the Dark" Matte painting is a good example) but it's a shame that the people actually hands-on aren't able to spend more time on the shots (assuming they have the talent and not enough time/money to do them properly.)

For things like this new ship, I applaud their efforts in keeping true to the flavor of the original series.

Karl, it was seen on the Enterprise view screen after both ships had been stopped by the Netrons. It's just a tiny dot on the scree, sort of as if seen from behind.
