Re: Coming soon . . .1/72 Flying Dutchman POTC
It's actually been picked back up now that the landscaping season is wrapped up, and our wedding plans are done. And now that I've wrapped the Monster Books and am cruising along on the Indy tank wrap up too, basically, I'm just sitting here cleaning and waiting for paychecks so I can ship stuff.
So I've had more time between castings and the like to take some more swipes at the Dutchman. She's basically become the stress relief project during the evenings in front of the tv. Check it out!!
What's really fun, is now that the railing are all on, and the faces are all in, the ship has finally taken on its proper profile, and has the correct look in perspective, profile, etc.
The shape of the ship was a bear, and I still have errors to correct here and there, but once the after-castles are done, and some minor tweaks around are done, I'll be casting up the entire port side and making one large cast, so I can fix/realign/carve out any changes I want to make, and also recover the extensive amount of clay I've used on the port side. Right now, the foam core ribbed, foam filled ship weighs about 12 pounds. :lol
What will really be fun, is once cast, I can finally see all the port and cannon holes hollowed out, as well as all the cracks, splits, and holes that are all over the sides of the ship. I'll also tool the interior sides of the port side, and then get it all ready for a massive mold.
One fun thing to look for, is that I've started blocking in the aft section. :love
