I was REALLY confused why you had so much blue when looking at the small pictures, but seeing the final results, it turned out great! :D

I still can't decide between the short jacket and the long coat for my build. I have to decide by Friday so that I can get one ordered and give it time to arrive.

Thanks! I have taken some creative license ...(or de-limited my time frame so it doesn't have to look like his at the BEGINNING of the movie - as opposed to some future time) added some stuff and modified other aspects I didn't want to spend the time to try to duplicate. I'm happy with it.

Here's the still in progress back, etc.

Good looking out. I was on my phone and couldn't find the link when I was replying :D

Also, while trying to decide if I want the long coat or the short jacket, I found this really nice Nova Corp variant from America Suit (http://www.americasuits.com/Men-Jackets/galaxy-leather-jacket-for-men) . Don't know anything about them, but they're the only ones I've seen do this one. They also have the normal short jacket in BLue and Black leather (real or fake). View attachment 422254
Oh man, awesome. That'll work as a great base. Building the Ravager suit from the end of the movie for my con run this year and this is going to help so much!

Man, I wish I could afford that Hot Toys Quill, its just so perfect. :D I've got the Hasbro one, but its not nearly as detailed.

One of my employees gave me the Cheaper one as a Gag gift - since they know of my new obsession.

$225+ for a "doll" - no matter how accurate - is too much for me too.

I'll throw this out to you guys/gals:

Anyone distressing the long coat like this:

If so, How? (My coat is Faux Leather - and so far I'm using an emory board and paint).

Hello All,
I thought id post in the thread to share what i found. I purchased "The Art Of Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy" book from my local book store that my friend saw at Disney Land.
It is Art drawing of the Concept Blaster Holster. As i sat and thought, it makes sense to have a holster like that when he did a quick draw of his blaster at the first part of the movie and then re holstered them fast. Just thought id share a picture on it.

I know the clip holster blends with the costume better, but I really do like that holster design.

This has probably been addressed to death, but I can't really find any info on it. Has anyone sourced his pants from the beginning of the movie?

So I guess I have a big head, pretty sure I'm not the only person to have a big head who also has the MDuckett Helmet, so I wanted to ask what other ways have you guys tried in order to secure the lid to your head. Ive got magnets on there but my head is just to big to hold them, they hold great when the helmet is just sitting on the shelf but when I want to wear it theyre not working. I was thinking of some elasticated strap of something to pull the two parts together once theyre on my head.

Anyone got any ideas?

Blackhawk Serpa mechanism. Those would have been far more difficult to make than the ones they went with.

I'm working on re fabricating a jacket at the moment with a few fabric suppliers to try and make it look as screen accurate as I can and I'm not sure how accurate or close I am with this fabric, any thoughts? I know the fabric has diagonal lines through it which I planned to detail afterwards.
A few types of lighting and a screen shot from the movie.. The more I look at it the more it plays tricks with me =/ImageUploadedByTapatalk1421141594.733784.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1421141612.293721.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1421141638.021618.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1421141766.409155.jpg

I'm about to commence the silk screening process. Mind if I ask what type of clear paint did you use? And the type of glitter powder? Thanks.
I used locally (in Sweden) produced fabric paint. No idea what make the powder is as I was given a couple ounces in a small jar since I didn't need that much.

The shape of the pattern isn't too far off, perhaps just a tad large but it's hard to tell. However, just in case you missed it, the screen used wasn't sub-dye printed but in fact screen-printed. There is no color/pigment in the pattern, aside from a very subtle pearlescent glitter medium. The difference in tone is caused by the "wet look" of transparent ink. (The Disney jacket seems to have gotten that wrong.) In regards to color- unless you've seen the jacket in person (or have access to one of the fabric swatches that were sold) you'll just have to gauge it. There's no way* anyone can say if you're close or not by looking at photos on a monitor (*unless said monitors are perfectly calibrated with a photographic white balance card) since every monitor will show colors and contrast slightly differently. Keep in mind as well that the jacket changes color from scene to scene in the film due to the color grading.

I finished up my scratch-made jacket a while back (using my own fabric shown earlier in this thread) and I'll be posting photos when I get around to putting it on a mannequin or something.

In the meantime, here's a sneak peek at the pants I just finished. (They're not perfect and and the snaps are wrong, but I think they'll do. My sewing skills seem to be more or less intact after a long hiatus.)

They contain three types of fabric (corduroy, canvas and denim) that were all dyed and bleached separately before the assembled pants were given a final dye to make them more "cohesive". Real leather was used for the holster pads and different tones of thread to emulate the on-screen weathering and overall look of the panels. Next up I need to pattern the trench and gloves as well as screen print and assemble the bag...
