The Definitive Peter Quill/Star-Lord Costume Thread

Anyone have this jacket? They are using the same pics as Anovos.

It's obviously another half-scam outfit. Just the fact that they use photos from another maker instead of showing the item you will actually receive says pretty much all you need to know about them. (It's even worse that they used Anovos' photos, since that jacket has accurate screen printing, which these ripoff sites almost certainly will not have replicated.) Buying from them, even if they are cheap, will only encourage them to get worse. If you're on a budget, I recall some of the well-known cosplay makers seem to at least be trying to replicate the cotton/leather mix of the real jacket (even if they don't do the printing) and show their own items.

Oh really? I stumbled upon that site when the movie was still new and thought "Wow, that's the best version around. If I liked that jacket, I'd definitely get that one."

I couldn't even tell there were any scam aspects about it. I assume they're the pictures of the one I've seen here in the short supply run? But now that you mention it, I've been duped like that before with another product, where you don't actually have what is shown.

The photos they are using are of the officially licensed version made by Anovos:

The one you've seen a run of here is done by Zlurpo and is currently the only accurate alternative to the official version I've seen. (When I state "accurate" I mean one that, beyond the correct panels and pattern, also has the intricate screen-printed patterns on the cotton parts. The reason you don't see that replicated much is that it's very expensive to do in limited numbers.)

Thanks for warning. I never would've known. I hope others see it as well.

for those that have been asking on the left is a 2xl that sells on amazon. On the right is the jacket that sells on ebay. the one on the left has pockets and is real leather. the one on the right does not have any pockets and is fake leather. the left one feels better to me in IMO and the right doesn't fit and but I did like the colors more. I got the one on the left for 40% off cause the seller had shipping issues. the one on the right seller is a nightmare to deal with and i will never buy from them again.

And the distressing begins, soaked my jacket on my body to form fit it better and now Im adding cordovan and black shoe polish to distress some areas

How does everyone attach the holsters to their pants? I'm not sure if I want to have them permanently sewn on since I'd like to be able to wash the trousers and wear them casually (they're biker jeans). Plus, the holsters cover the front pockets which makes life a little awkward. Press studs and velcro are two options, but may be a little too out of place when wearing without the holsters on.

I have to ask when it comes to this kind of distressing, how soon do you need it? Wouldn't it be less risky to just wear it for awhile? I bought one years ago (of the first movie) and believe me, it didn't take long to wear it down.

most to all movies these days rock the "lived in leather jacket" look which in order to properly achieve takes years. wearing it maybe a few times will help loosen the jacket but unless you add elements in order to further distress it's going to be no where near a screen piece. If you compare my jacket which is clean and some of the high res shots, you can see they added shadowing on almost every panel which doesn't happen naturally, creavises tend to stay clean while the front face will get dirty but you can clearly see intentional shadowing done in a lot places that wouldn't have it.

also I use leather shoe polish which is great cause if you screw up it can be removed easily versus if you dye or paint.
The jacket also fits 10 times better now that I shrank it to my body frame, most out of the box jackets or even custom ones don't have that perfect fit unless it was made directly on someone.

I still would always reccomend naturally as many of times myself and friends have ruined $500+ jackets but just like naturally, it's all about patience, go little by little and you won't make mistakes
