The Definitive CW Arrow Thread

This thread is AMAZING! However I have a question to you experienced people. I know nobody can yet pinpoint exactly what shafts were used for the arrows, but since i know nothing about archery, could someone give a close alternative? Im going to nycc by the way, so exited that ill be able to see Stephen Amell.

No one has no. I am getting some in bulk though, pm me if you want some details. I am having a member here fletch them for me too!

Do you guys know exactly what tape was used on the season 1 bow? Not the Brooks handlebar tape, but the tape holding the hinges on. I know someone said sinew, but I can't find any and I swear I saw someone say EXACTLY what it was.

I know this isn't meant to be a "my build" thread, but since I didn't really document my process, I'm just gonna post a few photos of my bow.

This is the bow I just used for San Diego Comic Con. It was done in about 3 days, using all tips and techniques I found on this forum (with a few exceptions). It didn't come out perfect but I'm honestly really happy with it. I think it looks great and I'm really proud. I need to re-wrap the arrow rest hinge, add dirt/wear to the the sinew and handlebar tape, paint the bowstring the correct colors, and possibly repaint the brass to be metallic. But honestly, I kind of like the non-metallic look.

And while I'm at it, here's my quiver & arrows:

I think the quiver came out okay. It was definitely WAY too big (looked fine on me, but bigger than the one Stephen uses in the show), despite making it to specifications I found in this thread. I will remake it smaller. I also had a slip-up and had to use more of the smooth/shiny black material than I planned. The bottom, which you can't see, also looks pretty bad because I couldn't figure out how to wrap the material around the rounded edge smoothly. Also need to figure out a better way to secure the quiver to the hood because it kept moving around and pulling the straps down.

The arrows were just done quickly to have them done, but I think they look alright. I'm gonna redo them correctly though once I recover some funds. At first, I really liked the tone of orange I used, but now I think it needs to be a little lighter. The fletchings are also rubber and I think they need to be actual feathers...? Also need to buy the correct nocks.

Hi. I need some help making my season 1 Ragim Matrix Jr Bow. I don't know how to attach my straight chock to the wood bow. Any suggestions? Do
you guys glue it on before adding the sinew and handlebar tape?
I also need help positioning the Straight chock correctly. When I place the straight chock where I think it should be positioned, the top of the Chock
blocks the brass strap hinge arrow rest so you you can't place the arrow on the arrow rest. Any suggestions on proper Chock placement?
thank you for any help you can provide!

This thread has been a boon for me. Already inspired by the show to get into shape, and now completely obsessed with putting together this costume. It's nice to find like-minded, crazy in a good way folk.

Primrodo & pinder91, thanks for putting together all this information. Definitely interested in the leather Arrow suit. It looks fantastic. Was almost ready to buy the Cosplaysky one after Dragon Con, which I thought was adequate enough, especially for the price. And under $500 for the full suit? I also don't have a lot of disposable income, but that seems like a fantastic value!

edit--
Requested to join that FB group. With any luck, I'll have Arrow done for SDCC 2015. And while I didn't get to make it to their panels, I did somehow get into the cast autograph signing at the WB booth. Hoping to add to those signatures with the Lance sisters actresses being at Dragon Con, too.

I know this isn't the proper place for this but I need an opinion. If I was to sell my collection what do you guys think I can get for it?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1408997601.487366.jpg

Why, man? Just... why?

:unsure :confused :wacko :facepalm :thumbsdown

not sure y i wanna sell it just moving on and trying new things. I enjoy the show very much and love all the work everyone has done on this thread it's amazing but it's time to move on from arrow and start another project

I'm still reading all of the information on this thread but I wanted to post and thank everyone for their hard work and hours of research done to make this tread possible. I'm a first timer and looking forward to attending my first Con in June 2015. My wife convinced me to go as the Arrow (yeah she really had to twist my arm :) ). Using the pointers on this should definitely make this project a lot easier. Thank you all!

So I really like the combat boot over running/training shoe idea. I currently have a few cosplays that use my one pair of combat boots that are feeling less comfortable even with replacement insoles. And while the Nike Free Run+ 2 is no longer available (unless you buy a knockoff), I was wondering if anyone has ventured with a similar style of shoe? I was looking into keeping it in the same Nike family. Currently, the two I know of that come in the all black/anthracite colors are the Nike Flex Run 2014 and the Nike Free 5.0 2014. The Flex run is cheaper, with an MSRP of $80 USD while the Free 5.0 is $100 USD. While not definitive, I thought it would be adequate for someone who wants a reliable shoe that is currently in stores and not have to risk getting a counterfeit online. Plus, as we approach the holidays, there's bound to be coupons! Thoughts? Free is on the left with the gray swoosh.
