The Definitive CW Arrow Thread

Don't be scared :) Working on this part is the most fun for me. I have a local guy to check in converting my shoes as well...should be WAYYY less than 1500. That quote is ridiculous. I had someone quote me $350 for copying the military boot before I knew about the shoe part.

So I talked to my buddy and he said he said hes going to make me some arrows out of urethane .... ill post some pics when they get finished

I think I've solved our problem about which arrows Oliver uses. If somebody has found/confirmed something different, I didn't see it, so I apologize.

Remember how we couldn't figure out whether or not Ollie used aluminum or carbon shafts? Well, I've been re-watching some of season 2, and back in episode 8, "The Scientist", in which Barry Allen makes his first appearance, he mentions that the Arrow uses carbon fiber arrows. When he's talking to Felicity about the vigilante, he says that according to police reports in Starling City, the Arrow uses carbon arrows, which have less penetration than an aluminum-carbon composite.

Hope this helps!

I'm going to quote myself on this one...

Taking what characters say on the show and relating that in any way, shape, or form to reality is a prop making no-no that you learn on day one. :p

Having said that, again, I've got something to type up when I get a spare minute. :ninja

True, Pinder, but wouldn't the type of shaft that people use really just depend on personal preference (if you're planning on actually shooting your bow, that is)? My personal preference is to use carbon shafts...
But anyway, I was just curious and trying to help :p can't wait to see what you post!

Absolutely. If anyone is looking to actually shoot their bow (though the Ragim really won't be a nail driver) they should definitely go with what they would prefer shooting, and obviously sized to their draw.

However, in the case of this thread, it wouldn't really be "Definitive" if it was full of "close enoughs". ;)

Anyone working on the season 2 recurve compound bow? I found a cosplayer working on one. This is his latest picture, almost complete.
I really like this bow, it's so unique.

I've just started work on my one, I've got 4 months to do it. I drew up all the parts & laser cut them with a birch plywood core, balsa exterior (for shaping), then going to rout the edges, shape the curves with a drum sander and then fibreglass the whole thing before priming and painting. Going to take lots of pictures and i might do like a how-to thread or something.

Fantastic job! Been thinking if doing something similar myself! Ideally would be great to get the riser cast, but loving the builds so far!

Sorry if I've missed it but has anyone worked out what the Island bow is? The same one he brings out to fight Merlyn after the Season 1 bow is destroyed.

Just want to thank every one for the kind words, My name is Wes, and i made the previously pictured Kestral Bow. being that its a prototype i have a few flaws that i find glaringly bad but next time i make said bow (i dubbed it the Hero Compound because the bow Merlyn broke i called the Vigilante Recurve) it will be next to identical to the actual bow.

Man I was wondering if you are on the rpf, your bow is amazing!
