Looking for some good reference material. I'm looking to probably pick up one of these and I'd like to see how they're supposed to look.

Thanks.

Here's mine - an early Richard Coyle ST:III phaser.

I believe there are photos of the original on the RAC website, along with a description of how the prop was made. Good luck. That is one of my favorite phasers - cheers to ILM for a consistent design theme.

Yes why reinvent the wheel and after all mine are off real oringinal studio prop and I took extra effort to make the new Rod/com model very accurate.

The problem with a prop that has been recast from each previous model every time it goes through an upgrade is that there is shrinkage from the original size. For example, I bought a first generation ST3 klingon communicator at the 20th aniversary ST convention. Years later I saw the same prop from the same maker with upgrades and it had lost about 3/8 of an inch in lenth. The most shrunken tell tale part was the norelco rotohead dial.

I've heard rumors that a kit will be offered but nothing official. In fact I heard those rumors months ago on another board.

Whenever I ask the folks at Rodd.com about new kits I tend to get very vague answers.
