The Dark Crystal Mystic head 1:1 Replica

There was someone on ebay awhile back selling a mystic head for a ton of money I contacted them about getting measurements and they wanted $200.00 for measurements maybe that was you? Apparently it technically wasnt a screen used one but a back up head casted in case the one being used on screen got damaged. But if its from the same mold then its the same imo.

I've loved this movie since I was a kid [granted, the world still sees me as a kid (15)]! I think I'm going to go watch the movie again... And keep this up! This is some amazing stuff!

Eye spacing and placement is KEY to these guys look. Almost sad. But wise. Innocent. etc.

I've only seen these attempted a couple of other times. And they were no where near this!

You have really nailed it! What all are you planning to use for casting this bad boy? I'd love to have a puppet head in some sort of foam etc.

Thanks Ken and everyone else for you comments. Im hoping to finally complete this. i have hired someone to help me get caught up on some outstanding helmet kits i owe from before i had surgery. So not to much longer.

Thanks Tom means alot coming for you, your shop has been turing out some really sick stuff, lots of eye candy at spina designs :thumbsup

A few years ago a friend of mine was asked to help Hensons in NY clean out the shop and as sad as it is they threw away all the old stuff from Dark Crystal including the actual large crystal prop. (ouch...that hurts) but he did make off with one of the mystics heads and i got to inspect it and it was really low tech. The eyeballs were made of wooden balls that were painted and epoxied. the sculpt was rough as well, I was amazed how rough it was, but remember it was the early 80's and things weren't all "effects shop" crazy yet. Your piece looks great.
