The Book of Eli machete pattern - FREE

Yes...definitely! :thumbsup
Rob

Hey Ghostsoldier,

whatever happened to Wade Egan making a Sheath for
Mike Tribal's Machete?

I have managed to get in on the run and wanted a Sheath for it also and was curious if he is doing the Sheath or not?.....

I am surprised that it hasn't been brought up since January.....

Hello,
execute me. Somebody can help me re-upload V.2.1 again. :cry

Thank,
Khamphee S.

ATTENTION: UPDATED to move V.2 patterns to the top....

Here ya go, folks....just giving back to the community any way I can! :thumbsup

Here's a free sheet of fan-made patterns I whipped up for the machete that Denzel uses in the movie The Book of Eli, based on some photo scans that were provided to me.

They are available in pdf format and Autocad dwg formats.

OK, guys...here's a Version 2 of the machete, based on the new pics rabbit uploaded. I am showing the cross-sectional dimensions on the second image, so those of you who want to hand-draft the profile can do so--just strike a baseline, a drop length below it, plot the blade widths, and connect the dots by hand, or with a French curve.

I decided, instead of complicating this with 2 versions ("combat" and "hero"), that I would combine them both in one drawing. The only major differences are in the blade thicknesses, handle thicknesses, and the overall length (the Prop site says it is approximately 26" long--mine is 27")...and these are things each individual can alter to their discretion and/or liking (I lengthened the blade by 1 inch primarily to allow a base for the leather wrapping to ride).

UDATED to V.2.1 to show larger center hole, and to darken blade profile outline lineweight for ease in pattern cutting.

Ghostsoldier. Thank for your help. I got it's. You the best. I will share my foto if I finish.

UPDATED: Not sure what happened, but the original links for the V.2.1 patterns got whacked from my Mediafire account....I've updated the links on the first post for anyone who wants 'em! :thumbsup

Thanks for uploading the file again Rob. I started on an aluminium version last week. So far I've got 5 lunch breaks invested in it.

darthzman, it will be functional, though obviously not as strong as steel. There will always be more of a chance of snapping the tip. It's just gonna hang on a wall....unless of course I catch burglars in my house :love My plan is to polish it as close to perfect as I can get it before aging/banging it up.

Its good to finally see someone making one of these and putting the correct bevel on the blade! THANK YOU!

Vos....I'm telling ya, that's some seriously AWESOME work! :thumbsup

You are an excellent craftsman, and it shows...if a burglar breaks in, hit him with a baseball bat...your machete is too nice to damage! :cool

Hey, thanks Rob. You're too kind. Aluminium is so much easier to work with than steel, I was able to shape the cutting edge by hand. I finished the other side of the blade.

Before I left work I drenched it in copper sulphate. This will weather the blade. I can buff it back to shiny where I want to with wire wool.
