He has interest threads in the Junkyard for these. I already received mine and am very pleased.
The wrap is the paper cord.
The paper cord is very very close to the best blow-up look I can get, and looks dead-on on my second trial wrap on a non-Eli handle--(my first try is on page 4, #97, on this thread)-- but if you have confirmed leather from an owner of several pieces Art, then I stand corrected.
Was the owner able to give you any measurements or further details ?
I don't want to fight about it... and I agree... the paper cord has a VERY similar look. I don't know how willing the owner would be to share more info (he is a member here) but it can't hurt to ask.
Here's what rolling a strip of leather smooth side out looks like as a handle wrap that I mentioned a few posts up.

I freehand cut the leather and at the beginning it wasn't an even width, as I got to the end it was pretty consistent and I was even able to get the edges to line up. Almost gives it a worn/cut look towards the bottom where they line up. This dark brown leather is also probably more of a 2-2.5ish ounce weight.
I've also been searching around and found that Leather Cord USA sells a 1/4 inch (6mm) round leather cord by special order. Using that and maybe opening up the seam on it ever so slightly might work to, but its pricey at $130ish for a 50 yard roll and a 4-6 week order time.
Ghost soldier, I missed when you posted your machete. It looks great.
Thanks for the info here. I am making this knife/machete for my banker as he is an enthusiast of this movie. I am a blacksmith, and have a waterjet in my shop. I plan to cut the pattern you have provided here and then forge it to attain the proper shape, and metallurgy. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to visit my website. hotmetalworks dot com. Thanks.

I am wanting one of these...I am not on Mike's list as of yet. I have left him a message, I know he is probably busy with the current list.....Guess I'll just have to wait to hear from him before I move on, I really like his work though and will wait on him to see if I can get one........but it's good to know someone else is doing one also....Post pictures when your done!
