The Book of Boba Fett

I thought it was solid though not mindblowing. I actually liked the lack of dialogue at the beginning.

After the first episode, I still struggle with the aspect of "why we should care" and can't really see where they are going worthwhile with this. I thought the flashbacks were far more interesting than "current events".

I would've thought we would've spent more time in the sarlacc and seen many more of Jabba's henchmen down there, perhaps just barely living, rather than a lone, random stormtrooper. I'm assuming that must've been a lost sandtrooper or something. The detail of using his rebreather was neat though. Overall, I thought they could've gone way creepier with the sarlacc stuff than they did though. Oh well.

Still not liking Fett strutting around without the helmet but I expected and accept it. However, it bothered me more that he just handed it over (to apparently get filled with credits) after all the trouble he went through to get it back. The subsequent fight with the parkour ninjas was pretty clunky and the lack of either he or Fennec sporting blasters was very weird. I do kinda find the notion that something could be wrong with him intriguing although he seemed just fine in The Mandalorian.

I actually loved the black robed Tusken Raiders. A nice way to introduce something different without straying too far away from their design language.

So was the crater city supposed to be Mos Espa? That seems weird since I don't recall it looking anything like that in TPM. I know the crater city is based off some old Mos Espa concept art but assumed it was somewhere else, maybe Anchorhead or even Bestine.

The cameos of several Boston Dynamics Spots was kinda neat and I suppose the first true robots to be featured in Star Wars?

I liked the design of the sand monster and thought it fit the SW aesthetic well enough. I haven't researched it at all but wasn't there a djarik piece that looked a lot like him?

Minor nitpick but is it me or did they mess up a bit with Max Rebo? Doesn't he actually play with his feet rather than his hands? If that actually is him, I wonder how he escaped? I seem to recall he did in the EU although I no longer recall the details.

Speaking of escape, I'm now just as curious as to how Bib Fortuna escaped as anything else. Additionally, and this has nothing to do with the show, but the more Twileks I see, the more I wonder: what exactly is wrong with Bib Fortuna? He has claws, needle teeth, elongated skull, etc etc and just generally more grotesque than most any other Twilek we've seen. Was he an albino mutant? Some other race or somesuch? Most Twileks just look like humans with head tentacles.

Still, the show has the right look to it in my book, regardless of whatever questionable narrative choices are made. I'm not a Filoni fanboy in particular but I have to say that Filoni and Favreau def know the "feel" of SW more than most in charge these days and this show is further evidence of that. While this episode didn't really have a "hook" to it like the first episodes of seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian, it was nevertheless well done overall and here's hoping it only gets better from here.

It seemed like a small detail to me, but it seemed like when he escaped & pulled off his helmet, he was EXTREMELY pale. Almost to convey that he usually DIDN'T have his helmet off at all. Looked to me like almost ROTJ Vader pale. Maybe we'll see what's led to the shift.

Don't you know that everyone in Disney StarWars is pretty? Get with the picture already, dude. Even unsightly scars and dents gotta go (except the nose and helmet one's because they're #cool)

My thoughts on the first episode. It's okay. Hard to to say if I'm really going to be invested until it gets going.

The flashbacks to AOTC was cool. I liked the variety in Sand People costume. The escape, was okay. I had always imagined it as being messy and gross, and not something bad ass.

And yeah the Boston Dynamics robots really threw me for a loop. Meh

Not sure if this is a spoiler or not but anyone who is in this thread or responds to a notification from this thread before watching the first episode should not be surprised if they get spoiled. With that being said,

Is there anyone else out there who was waiting for Boba to pull out a blaster in Han Solo style fashion in Jabbas Palace on that Twi'lek? Man!!! i almost pulled out my own blaster on my TV at that point.

Bib Fortuna resembles the males like Quinn, and Cham Syndula, I was actually more surprised that the Twi’lek emissary had more of the “feminine” features.

Also I just realized that the sand creature reminded me of Goro from Mortal Kombat

Yeah Goro came to mind as well! I'll have to check Quinn and Cham out again but I don't recall them looking anything like Bib apart from being Twileks. lol I suspect the Mayor the emissary is referring to is that Ithorian we saw in the trailers but I had wondered if he was someone we knew.

Seconded. I really liked their camp, their clothing, the children. It was neat.

I also really loved that. So cool.

Boy you’d think Boba Fett would be obsessed with getting revenge on Han after all the **** he went through because of his accident. Jawas even took his shin tools!

Boba was focused on Luke and had his back turned to Han...He received his bounty for Han already. He purposefully flew on the skiff to capture Luke and after being stuck in a Sarlacc pit, i'm sure the last thing he's thinking about is...who activated my backpack?

In my view, Bib Fortuna is relatively normal — for a Twi'lek male that is. Qin (The Mandalorian) also has an elongated skull with bumps on the forehead. The really weird one would be senator Orn Free Taa of Ryloth (prequels) which has four short lekku.

I imagine that females file their teeth and bind their ears (what that headgear would be for) to fit a physical ideal of beauty whereas most male Twi'lek don't bother to. If a female didn't bind her ears while growing up (like a corset or "Lotus feet" in the real world), her ears would too look like small human ears.

That the two male Twi'leks in this episode had heads like females was just disappointingly sloppy.

I sure hope Constable Zuvio shows up lol
His helmet is seen first of all when the team arrive in Mos Espa ... (Or maybe you had already spotted it in a trailer that I didn't)

What a unimaginative waste of writing potential..

38minutes long and all of 1:40 is escaping the sarlacc... These guys couldn't image themselves out of a paper bag

And the Theme sounds like something out of Beowulf
Also there's a bad editing "fuckup" at 22:23 and 22:26 where Boba falls down twice in a remarkably short amount of time...
Just had a thought.... wasn't his jetpack busted by Han?

Yes, backswing from a vibroaxe. Mando exploits the same area to launch Cobb Vanth in season 2.

Watching again and I stand by the feeling that Boba is mischaracterized in the flashbacks. He’s too altruistic after such a huge trauma. I needed to see his cunning come up against more old west brutality/misery, eventually reshaping his outlook.

Since his Bestie Mando turned Grogu over to Luke, I’m pretty sure any grudge Fett had against him is over now.
I might be wrong but do we know that Boba even knew about Luke? I mean...Mando didn't even know about Luke until he got there and Boba was long gone...

Now we know Boba is having flashbacks and it's possible these flashbacks could turn to resentment against said individuals...im wondering if Boba will experience something like Wrecker in The Bad Batch and all of a sudden go ballistic

Yes, he knew about Luke. He and Mando went out for drinks afterwards and he asked him,

Fett: So, who is the Jedi picked up a little green kid?

Mando: Some Jedi named Luke.

Fett: Luke Skywalker?

Mando: I think that was it, why?

Fett: No reason…

I assume Fennec would have told Boba that a guy with a green laser sword showed up and saved them all. Boba would probably be able to figure out who that is.
