The Book of Boba Fett

In my view, Bib Fortuna is relatively normal — for a Twi'lek male that is. Qin (The Mandalorian) also has an elongated skull with bumps on the forehead. The really weird one would be senator Orn Free Taa of Ryloth (prequels) which has four short lekku.

I imagine that females file their teeth and bind their ears (what that headgear would be for) to fit a physical ideal of beauty whereas most male Twi'lek don't bother to. If a female didn't bind her ears while growing up (like a corset or "Lotus feet" in the real world), her ears would too look like small human ears.

That the two male Twi'leks in this episode had heads like females was just disappointingly sloppy.

His helmet is seen first of all when the team arrive in Mos Espa ... (Or maybe you had already spotted it in a trailer that I didn't)

I guess I've just forgotten what they looked like then! I remembered Qin being purple and looked more like "just a guy" than Bib but it's been a while.

Just watched it on my projector screen to get a cinema feel..
On the whole I liked it and think we will see more Flashbacks maybe more about his time in the Sarlaac pit...
The music is like others have said a bit well weak if that's the right word.
A more Orchestral/Starwars inspired music would be much more dramatic and give the scenes more drama.
I liked the OG SW swipes between the scenes.
We saw a young Daniel Logan as AOTC Boba but would also love to see him reprise his role as a young adult Boba in a later Flashback...

I love the Mando theme itself but I do think choosing Ludwig Goransson for these shows is questionable. He's skilled for sure but I just never have felt he was a great fit for SW. I think they intentionally gave him a free rein (at least with Mando) to do what he wanted but I would've much preferred something more traditionally orchestral or at least use familiar themes when warranted (Force theme, Imperial March, etc).

When the Mando music goes full orchestra is when it’s at its best, for me personally.

Well, I just got through watching this first episode. It did not "hook" me like the first episode of The Mandalorian. My first impression was not good because I was a little put off by how he escaped the sarlac. I really wanted to see him jet out of the mouth or something. But as someone mentioned, perhaps his jet pack was damaged when Han hit it?? I feel a bit better now about his escape taking this into consideration.

Personally, I did not like the look/design of the sand creature. The first shots of it's hands made it almost look a lot bigger and at first I thought it was going to be a krate dragon. Like others have said, it looked like goro and the kraken had a love child.

I eagerly look forward to the next episode and more of the flashbacks.

SPOILERS BELOW

To be honest I’ve never been a fett fan, I think he’s cool and all. But I never was a huge fan.

Same thing with the mandalorian series.. if it wasn’t for all the other characters involved in the show I wouldn’t even continue watching it

But call me strange, I really liked this first episode

I liked him climbing out of the pit covered in acid and sand

I do have some huge questions.. why the hell is he sick now? He kicked total trooper @$$ in season 2.. has he become dependent on bacta? Like is bacta some kind of opioid?

The whole episode we see him get beat up over and over and all I could think about was how does he win the tuskins over? I thought it was great his basically saved the little tuskin

Goro from land of the lost felt out of place to me..

And my BIG question.. was that uncle owens farm?!? The hut didn’t look right but it had a circle next to it like the one Owen had

I felt at first since the mayors henchman wasn’t taking fett seriously I figured the rest of the planet wouldn’t either, when we got to the Casio the pretty chick made me fell the same way, like she took him as a joke at first but then paid him? I was wicked confused with that scene.. idk

Anyway.. not a fett fan, but really enjoyed this show. I am really curious where it goes in 7 episodes…

Huge prediction…
I have spoken…

I thought the exact same thing when it happened!
I loved it too! Lol I love how they just strip stuff so fast, like cars on the streets of NYC.. lol I love it, love the story mechanic of them coming in and robbing everything..

I died laughing when they whacked him with the stock of the gun lol in their little jaws talk then BAAAAAM!!

Lol! Yep they really are the Tatooine cleaning crew. I bet they had a field day with the sail barge wreckage! As for Max Rebo, I guess it's not for certain whether that's him or another musically inclined Ortolan? Lol!

I was gonna say he moved his little blue @$$ off the sailbarge pretty quick! Lol

Trying to time frame how long fett was in the pit

We know vanth got the armor the next day from when the Death Star blew up

Trying to figure out how many days from when Luke blew up the sail barge to when they blew up the Death Star

Another question I have: where the hell are all of Jabba’s/Bib’s people? Bib wasn’t running this show all by his lonesome. Where are the staff, the foot soldiers, the courtiers, the capos, etc.? Shouldn’t the HQ of a criminal empire as large as this be buzzing with activity?

Sure, maybe Boba & Fennec killed some people who were loyal to Bib and wouldn’t “flip,” but the palace is, like, completely deserted.

My only guess is that maybe Bib never really cemented his own power base when he took over, and as a result became super-freaky-paranoid. So he kicked everyone out of the palace save for a few guards and attendant droids, and became a recluse, running everything remotely. Perhaps they were telegraphing this “secluded hermit” thing when they showed Bib having those long-ass Howard-Hughes-esque fingernails.

Might also explain why, five years after his death, people are still referring to Jabba and what Jabba would do, instead of referring to Bib.

That's an excellent point that I had totally forgotten about. I guess it could depend on how long Vanth was out there before the Jawas found him? I had thought Fett had likely been in the sarlacc for at least a few weeks/months but that would conflict with Vanth getting the armor shortly after the DSII's destruction.

My assumption is they all scattered to the winds and like you said, I think we might can question just how much power Fortuna actually had. He might've self proclaimed himself as Jabba's successor but just how much of Jabba's empire was still intact? I'm surprised that no other Hutts have entered the picture and would love to see another Hutt in all its foam latex glory.

Right. Perhaps the Hutt Cartel just came in right after Jabba’s death and picked the carcass clean, leaving Bib nothing but the bones.

But there were still vassals in the mix, and Garza Fwip, too. So Bib still had some action going on, I guess.

Crap.. I just checked season 2 ep2 of mando.. Cobb vanth mentions “I walked for days.. no food.. no water”

I thought he said “ I walked all of the next day”

Though.. still doesn’t mean fett was in there that whole time.. I get the feeling it was most likely the same day, maybe before night fall.. fire from the sail barge was out and the Jawas just found the wreckage…

Just had a thought.... wasn't his jetpack busted by Han?
It's actually the guy up on Jabbas Barge who shoots him in the back of the Jetpack for whatever reason.. That's why Boba goes crashing to the ground stunned, with smoke creeping up over his back from the damaged jetpack. That deck canon shot straight through the jetpack's center tank. Hans Vibro-Axe only hits the exposed damaged internals after, activating it and sending Boba flying uncontrollably into the sail barge before falling into the pit screaming, but the pack in theory should still work more or less. That's why most of the EU stories had him flying out or involved the jetpacks missile in some way.

What's interesting is that in Mando Season 2 the ROTJ Jetpack missile is missing when Cobb gets it, so they already heavily implied it was involves with his escape there too, only to flake on it here in BoBF in the most "Meh" and fan-film quality way possible...
I'd have seriously just rather the episode open with him having already escaped and awaking to being scavenged upon leaving what happened inside up to the audience's imagination than this cheap ****
