The Book of Boba Fett

And not just the men, but the women, and the children too….

Well, the episode over all was good, but I felt that the kids seemed very out of place for the show. The
rancor
made up for this, imho. I also feel Back Krrsantan's scene was too PG, I feel he would have killed most of the folks involved in this scene.

I am quite sure we have not seen the last of the
Twins
.

I loved the flashback scenes in this one.

I don’t know where the majority of the blame lies but this show is painful to watch. I don’t so much anticipate new episodes now as I dread them.

If I just go back to the written story, I can see where it could work. But the execution of it has been not good- that covers design, directing, cinematography, stunt choreography, acting, and a host of functions of a show- where if it all comes together just right, then it’s magic; and if it doesn’t, well- you have this.

I too agree with ya on krrsantan, I’m a huge fan of his..

What I don’t understand is.. he worked for jabba.. he and fett battled to be jabbas number 1 hunter.. he knows the palace inside and out since he hung out and worked there

That’s how he snuck in on fett.. you’re telling me he didn’t know about the rancor trap door ?

They dropped the ball (Wookiee) on that one

Thanks for clearing that up about how he got in because im like, that annoying droid must have fell asleep alongside Fennec and i would have been PO'd after getting trashed by a wookie to have Fennec( who has my back) lift her legs all non chalant on the dinner table like nothing happened...lol

Just finished it and...wow. Just...wow.

The hipster speeder Vespa gang might just be one of the dumbest things we've seen yet. How did that ever get greenlighted? Who wrote that and said "yep, this is gold..."? They were so bad and out of place, it almost felt like we were being trolled. Is this a joke? Seriously? If they wanted to show Fett get grassroots support, just depict the plighted peasants on his side. The street urchins and shadowy folk that can disappear at a moment's notice and have ears everywhere. A bunch of cyberpunk hipsters riding colorful Vespas is not the way. Good lord...

Black Krrsantan was neat although I feel like he could've handled himself at lot better than he did, if what I've read about his reputation is true. I also thought it seemed like Fett did not know him by the way he was addressing him there at the end. Unless it was meant to be condescending?

This episode certainly is doubling down on depicting Fett as inept even at the stuff he's supposed to be good at. Although thankfully he has cyberpunk hipster teenagers to watch his back, because apparently Fennec, the Gamorreans and literally anyone else in the palace did not. Somehow everyone missed a giant black Wookiee sneaking into their boss' private chambers. I'm literally wondering if Fennec could be a double agent because that could potentially best explain such uncharacteristic lack of attention on her part. Otherwise, surely Black Krrsantan knew about the trap door if he knew the palace well enough to go totally undetected.

I really wish ol' Mando would give Fett his personality back. It's honestly getting rude at this point. I do not fault Tem as I feel like he's doing his best with what he's given. The problems are above him, resting with questionable direction and writing.

The Twins almost immediately arriving after their little assassination attempt and randomly gifting Fett the rancor (ooopsy! sorry! take this! byeeeeee!!!!) was bizarre to say the least. We're gonna see Fett riding a rancor, I'm sure. My eyes can only roll back in my head so far. However, I will say the rancor itself looked amazing! Not sure why the Hutts look so bad by comparison.

The Tusken stuff generally went the way I thought although it seemed way too early and was far too brief. It didn't pack the punch it probably should've. It's disappointing because their part in this has so far been my favorite aspect of this show by far. I think there is some chance Lady Tusken and Child could still be alive although Boba clearly threw the kid's "beatin' stick" into the fire so maybe not...

I agree with the notion that Robert Rodriguez needs to be given the boot. He clearly is a bad fit for Star Wars and I'm puzzled how he ever got to be showrunner of this series and director of nearly half of it. His episode in Mando was not great either and as I understood it, he was just a last minute addition because the original director had to bow out. How it ever snowballed to this is beyond me. Judging from the previews, there's still stuff we haven't seen so he was def full of it claiming they only showed content from the first episode or two. If he didn't know, he should've said nothing but I think it could've been in response to the rather "blah" reaction to the previews in the first place.

I also agree that unless things change dramatically, this whole series is starting to feel like a slap-dash effort that was cobbled together in very quick order. For me, episode 1 was so-so, episode 2 was pretty good and episode 3 was pretty bad. Definitely a mixed bag for me at this point.

Ok, my one question is this-considering that the old EU is out, & all the official onscreen canon consists of a handful of lines, a very few minutes of screentime (not counting the PT or his TCW appearances, because he was a child/teen during those), then WHERE is everyone getting this idea of his character or reputation from, other than in the way they've built him up over the years in their heads?

It's like if I had a 7 minute chat with the cashier as she was ringing up my groceries, then I see her on the street several months later & she's cussing out a lady in a wheelchair. I look at my wife & say "Wow... That's really out of character for them!".

Based on what?

I'm not trying to bury anyone here or ask them to justify an opinion, but I've seen these films as much as the next one, I've spent several hundreds of dollars on Boba Fett merch, & have a custom prosthetic Boba Fett themed leg, so I'd consider myself a fan. It's just that we've told each other how BA he is, but where is the proof of it onscreen?

I’m so glad I am not the only one who feels this way. The past few movies I’ve seen I’ve come out very negative towards them and was afraid it’s something about me

When this was delivered today I was so curious how everyone else felt

I loved the little rancor, loved Danny in it.. I hate to see the twins go I was wicked excited for them

Krrsantan I was really hoping he would clean house.. but I guess you can say he kind of did? Idk..

Just felt very blah.. think it could have been a lot better

You are 100% right. And I’ve thought of this as well.. old EU is erased.. and even back then fett was tossed around as a joke.. always being launched off just like the jet pack stunt in rotj

Dark empire II they hit his ship and he goes spiraling away..

Thrawn trilogy I think he’s mentioned.. and that too he couldn’t finish the job..

Even if there was bad ass moments in EU that’s now out the window..

Boba fett has always been a mystery.. we all thought this and thought that.. we made up what we thought of him or his personality.. when in reality we don’t have much anymore after the EU wipe..

So this is the new fett..

I didn’t like EU fett.. I don’t like this fett.. I like the fett that hung out in the trash and caught captain solo..

Apparently now.. fett even loses him to soloshold girlfriend.. fetts has to steal him
Back from her..

… yeah

I can only hope the Hutts reappear again. The Hutts are a big deal as far as I'm concerned and it was weird to suddenly dismiss The Twins (and BK) in the episode immediately following the one they first appeared in. However, this episode seemed to establish the Pykes as the "big baddy" so who knows.

Precisely why ( had he not appeared in Mandalorian ) the Book of Boba should have taken place between his childhood and becoming a Bounty Hunter or his other exploits as one imo.

I will say this series is certainly reinforcing that this is the same clumsy oaf that George decided to take on a Jedi point blank and have him careening into the sarlacc like a doofus, as opposed to being a capable bounty hunter of any ability at all.

Before George decided to be rid of him in unflattering fashion, given the early promotion of the guy before ESB I disagree that we weren't supposed to think early on that Boba Fett was a steely badass. Also the very fact he was among the select few aboard the Executor at all speaks loudly in my mind, not to mention he was the one that caught our heroes. That all seems to be a matter of opinion apparently. lol!

They're coming back on an even bigger Sailbarge to throw Boba in the Sarlacc again...the end

This, exactly.

I am a huge Boba fan, and frankly, I am kinda glad that the Boba we are seeing now does not match my “headspace” Boba, because frankly, that might have been anti-climactic for me.

I think ESB’s Boba was certainly set up to be the taciturn humorless no-nonsense super-savvy bad-ass bounty hunter, but how he acted while “on the job” (we all have a “work persona,” don’t we?) may not be how he acted in all aspects of his life, or how he acts now that he’s “off the clock” and pursuing a different path.

And not for nothing, I think that Tem-as-Boba’s growling speech when dealing with adversaries sounds pretty on-point.

The only thing I will disagree on is the proof of his bad-assery. As I said earlier, Vader wouldn’t have retained Boba on multiple occasions if he didn’t deliver as expected.

Ah, the age old gatekeeping that “isn’t real”, according to another thread on this forum. If we don’t like everything Star Wars, then we’re just “fans” and not REAL fans.

The questions on his reputation have been answered multiple times in this thread. Based purely off of what we see in ESB, he’s competent, quiet, and ruthless, with a penchant for overkill. That, added to his body language and the way others interact with him, clearly denote a character, if a somewhat flat one to be basing a whole show off of. Again, this is why a Mandalorian show was a good idea. Taking the imagery and the rough idea of Boba Fett, without going against canon, “character assassination”, etc.

Peace, I’m out, I’m done with this show.

I am confident that we will see the Twins and BK again before it’s all said and done.
