The Book of Boba Fett

I would have liked to have seen something Johnston-directed, though not necessarily Fett. I love Jumanji (the original), The Rocketeer, Captain America 1, and his design and effects work obviously speak for themselves.

I would love to see Johnston do something Fett related. I think he certainly understands Fett better than most anyone. He created him, was involved with him right at the ground level, and knows the guy and his inspirations through and through. I wanna say he even approached George about it years ago but was turned down at the time.

It really is a shame they didn't get Joe Johnston to head up this show or at least direct an episode. He sure is more qualified than most. And yes, The Man With No Name was certainly a big inspiration for Fett. In fact, that's also where the "spur" sound effect was derived from. Cad Bane had a lot of Eastwood in him too and perhaps just as much of Lee Van Cleef's Douglas Mortimer, a bounty hunter too of course, for visual inspiration at the least.

I sound like a broken record but I just keep thinking about that Vespa gang. It's just so shockingly bad, I just can't fathom anyone thinking "yeah, so check this out....the fans are gonna love this...cyborg teens on Vespas!" Maybe it was supposed to be funny but the joke fell as flat as any joke possibly could?
If anybody deserves a shot at directing a Star Wars project, it's Joe. Heck, I think George should've given him one of the prequels.

Did he, though? We have no onscreen evidence of that. All we know is that Vader doesn't want him to disintegrate people. That could be based on prior bounties, but not necessarily. There were a bunch of bounty hunters there, are we to assume Vader personally vetted the capabilities of all of them? Or did he just tell Needa to send out a call and this is who showed up?
This is one of the reasons that Temuras piss poor 2004 redub is so profoundly detrimental to the viewing of the film…
You have a guy who you’ve repeatedly watched over the course of the film publicly strangle to death his own Allies when they fail or displease him… ya know… Darth Vader, that guy who’s our physical embodiment of evil incarnate in the galaxy up until that point… and then you introduce a new character (Boba fett) who not only repeatedly talks back to that horrifically evil character in a very combative/disrespectful tone, but rather than being killed they’re only reassured everything they want they’ll get, or be compensated for such… while simultaneously treating Lando, the owner of Clowd City who's groveling at his feet, like trash…
And it says nothing to you guys about these characters, meaning Vader and Boba, having a past history…?

I truly weep for creative writing reading some of these stupid replies

Maybe we are all over reacting, maybe after all the disrespect.. fett is going to have a major melt down and slaughter everyone..

Ya know............. that kind of makes sense. Good call. It will be interesting if this occurs, lol.

My dream director for Boba Fett has always been James Mangold after watching 3:10 to Yuma and Logan..
That guy and a solidly written script made in homage to the ‘Man with No Name’ spaghetti westerns is all Boba needs.
Its really not complicated

Them having a history is a valid interpretation, but that's all it is. There can be many valid interpretations.

You know what, you’re right, I forgot Anakin/Vader has been reduced into an incompetent awful ******* too.
Tone in conversation is Dead. Everything is meaningless monotone happy text communication now to get us from Point A to Point B
Carry on

Sounds like Tem understands Boba more than the writers do.

Totally agree! It seems absurd that Fett apparently had even more dialogue than he already has.

And I do think Boba Fett is gonna finally have his moment to shine and "kick ass" but how cool it'll really be remains to be seen. They're definitely setting up him riding a rancor which frankly seems super cheesy to me but I'm guessing that'll be part of it.

There has been talk that The Twins were hinting that Crimson Dawn/Qira has claimed Tatooine maybe with Cad Bane working as their muscle, and the Pykes working in conjuction with them as well, but I dunno.

Looked to me like the gang was riding a bunch of KitchenAid mixers:

The biggest problem with this show remains that I still don't understand what Boba wants out of all of this, and I really don't understand how he's been able to take over Jabba's enterprise so easily. Those are interrelated issues – the whole Daimyo thing feels low effort in-universe, meaning there's no opportunity to see Boba struggle and overcome and thus reveal character (I don't mind seeing him get his butt kicked, but since the personal stakes are so low, it ends up being boring). Instead it feels like he wandered into an already-empty palace (what, no squatters?) and said "sure, why not?"

His time with the Tuskens feels much more compelling, and I feel like that should have been the show and not this criminal underworld business.

Agreed. This whole mafioso stuff feels very half-baked and ham-fisted. It doesn't work for me at all. Like Din not wanting to be ruler of Mandalore, I just can't see Boba giving two-sh!ts about being any kind of crimelord. I'm still not getting his motivations there and the notion of a "benevolent crimelord" seems a bit ridiculous. I could see Fett pulling a Man With No Name, and pitting two crime families against each other while he gets rich between the two but nothing as involved as running a family himself. The flashbacks were way more interesting.
