The Book of Boba Fett

Don’t love Wednesdays either, but I noticed May 4th is on a Wednesday this year, so I imagine they’ll take advantage of that with one of the upcoming shows.

I still think they are keeping the majority of the show secret. I think there will be a lot of crazy stuff. Whether it satisfies everyone remains to be seen, but I think it will be very different from what we seen so far, which is kind of bland.

The day of release never really bothered me, fridays made it easier though because I could watch it real early in the morning, or around 8pm at night once I get in

My only issue now is having to dodge spoilers for 2 days until I can view it myself

To be honest, I wish it was season three of the Mandalorian starting in another couple weeks. I’m just not that excited for this. I will watch it of course, but I’m just not filled with the same enthusiasm for it as with the Mandalorian.

You are not alone ;)
I'm not even that excited for either. I mean I'm excited to see new Star Wars content. And sure it's cool to see more Boba Fett. But after season 2 of The Mandalorian, 'Jon Favreau's Star Wars easter egg parade' is wearing thin. Right now, I'm more invested in The Bad Batch. Which I totally did not think I would be.

Perfect description!
I seem to recall them saying it was like they were playing with their action figure collection.

And that's exactly how it comes across. You can totally see Dave and Jon, as two kids with their random action figures. Jon pulls out his Jango Fett. But Jango is dead, so 'we'll call him something else!' Oh and Jon has an IG-88, figure. But they call him IG-11. And Dave has some Jawas. But they're not on Tatooine. 'Oh well say they're off world Jawas', says Dave grinning. Dave also had this random LEGO Yoda. 'So, he'll be like a baby Yoda.' 'Okay!' Jon enthusiastically replies. Later on Jon, remembers he's got some Sand People figures. 'Hey we should go to Tatooine!’ So Jon and Dave scoop up their toys and go out to the sandbox........

i don't believe you! ;)

I was getn confused which Mando this thread is about, then I saw the new Tv spot and was reminded by the man himself:

“You know d@$& well who”

Wasn't Boba Fett's future already covered in like 25 years of comics, novels, and video games? The guy's origin has been revised so many times that it's no wonder they haven't written amnesia into the character because he can't keep track of his own identity.

Yeah it's the first of it's kind in terms of traditional spin offs. Gondolorian was a spin off of Boba Fett who had a cameo in that spin off, then got his own dedicated spin off from that. There's some seriously confusing meta stuff going on here!

I got a notification on my phone this morning about a Han and Chewie show, but when I clicked the link, the article wasn't there. Anybody know anything about this?

I think the news reports are getting a bit confused. I saw one report stating that Ford was returning to Star Wars, then another announcing a Han & Chewie 'series'. Further digging revealed Ford is possibly involved with a future, unnamed 'project', & that there's an unrelated comic H&C series next year. Some clickbait sites are combining the 2 reports.

Thanks. That's what I suspected.

I don't think it looks bad. My lack of excitement is due to disinterest in the subject matter and not the execution. I just don't feel its breaking any new ground either but hey if Fett fans enjoy it, more power to them!

For myself, I am excited. My feels are thus:

1) I like Favereau's story-telling. Not just in Manadalorian, but in other movies he's made.

2) I really like Ming-na Wen and would happily watch her read the phone book as long as it cut to a fight scene every so often.

3) I come out of the Star Trek fandom, so I'm used to the idea that new movies or TV shows are going to ignore older novels and comics.

4) On a broader social level, I really like that the bad-ass protagonists are being played by persons of colour, and the sexy-stereotype alien (the Twi'lek) is being played by a euro-american. That's an historical problem with Star Wars and I'm happy they're tackling it in the newer media.

5) My covid-bubble-friend has Disney+ so it's an excuse to go visit once a week.

6) And last, I very much doubt we've actually seen enough in the two short trailers to really know what this story's going to be about.

So, yeah, very much looking forward to this!

There's no historical problem with Star Wars. It's perfect.

For anyone not super excited with what they've seen from the trailers, they've only included parts from the first half of the first episode only.

You mean the opening part of the series that set the tone for the show and hooks you in for the long run?
