The Book of Boba Fett

What did Tem say about the backlash?
Usagi Pilgrim sent me the quote

"A few fans also took umbrage with the gang of cybernetic street toughs who find work as Boba’s new muscle. Most of the backlash seems to be directed toward their vehicles of choice: a fleet of brightly-colored hover-bikes that look an awful lot like Vespa scooters. However, Morrison doesn’t seem affected by this reaction.

“Some of these things are out of our control,” added Morrison. “We can’t say as performers, ‘We don’t want to work with these people, that’s not good enough’ … They brought a lot of color to it, I thought … they were great, were working hard.”"

Pretty revealing that he went that route. Doesn't sound like he was overly liking the idea but he couldn't say that and he's right...you don't ask questions as to why the writer decided to write it in and then say you reject their idea as an actor and then refuse to be filmed with them. Tem knows a lot about Star Wars...a lot. He's outspoken and a straight shooter. You really think he'd take this role if he thought in the end his character would be knitting socks in a nursing home and forever be associated with tarnishing a legend? I don't and i really think these guys respect the legacy characters.

that really is just only part of it for me.. the costumes didn't work on tattooing, the go-go gadget parts and scenes didn't work for me.. and more importantly

fett is considered a joke... this guy who's a joke comes up to me and says "wanna work for me" they claim there is no work in the city.. yet they are driving hooked up stupid scooters, and dressed like they are ready to go ball room dancing

and to top it off... they go join this "joke"... absolutely none of it made sense to me and nothing

nothing!! pisses me off more... then introducing characters to throw them away.. im hoping im over reacting but i dont think we will see them again

why waste the money on the cgi to bring the twins in to give them 3 minutes of screen time and throw them away... same thing with krrsantan.. i hope i am wrong and they come back but judging by the fact they didn't even hire a guy for krrsantan and using a set work hand doesn't fill me with confidence..

it just didn't make any sense

a friend pointed out to me the other morning "those scooters and cloths would work on coruscant.. not on tattonie...

Its a diplomatic answer to be honest... there's not much he can say that wouldn't be injurious to his paycheck.
i still wouldn't respond, no matter what you say your going to make some people happy and some people pissed off

Like Mark Hamill? Lol...nothings more entertaining than watching Hamill getting interviewed...He's another straight shooter...atleast you know what you're getting with Tem and Mark.
until disney tells you to shut your mouth lol hamill was very vocal at first, then they told him to change his tune. now even with some time passed i think he avoids the question in general

we all truly know how he feels

just like morrison commenting on how he wishes he would remain more mysterious, im willing to bet his public speaking couch laid into him for that

Boba admitted the Hutts were lying and they weren't really going though. I agree with you about the teen gang...terrible idea...Krrsantan will be back

he said they are lying? i need to re watch it.. usually the night of the release the episode plays none stop 24/7 until i go to bed. ep3 i watched that once at 3:30am and thats it.. no interest and seeing it again, and because of it i missed lines like this

It's a bullsh1t question to ask the actors in the first place. They didn't create/write/produce/create concept art/design the vehicles/creatures/costumes the list goes on. They show up say their lines, hit their marks and get payed and get the f00ck out.

You ask that question the writer/creator JF and director RR and pray they will ever give you another interview in the future. It should be legal for actors to b1tch slap interviewers when they ask loaded questions.

When they left and Fennec and Boba were talking after the Rancor was brought forward...they didn't believe the Hutts were truthful

and i would pay a monthly subscription to see it!

There is a line or 2 in the Tragedy and a couple when he is with the Mayor that prove to me that the Boba we are seeing now is the same skilled, ferocious Boba on Mando...atleast ideologically. The dreams/flashbacks have just been given to us to set us up for the spike and yes, Boba is getting his tail kicked around but notice he's fine afterwards like nothing happened. When i went back and watched the episodes with Boba, i just focused on the lines themselves, not the theatrics. The Vespas, ( i hate) but I'm not gonna allow that distraction to ruin the story of Boba...Tem also addressed the fan backlash over the Vespas already and what he said about that was pretty revealing to me as well. The Clint Eastwood movie Unforgiven has not left my mind from the start. In my opinion, Boba is going to confirm in everyones mind that yes...he is exactly who we thought he was all along...a tough guy....a really really tough guy with a supreme set of skills...just like Eastwoods character in Unforgiven...he's not Mando...just because Mando showed emotion for Grogu, doesn't mean they are turning Boba into a softy. I'm not saying another word about any reveal or whatever til episode 4 airs...i believe it will begin to be quite obvious. Thanks for staying optimistic yourself. This all hinges on will they stay true to the writing of The Tragedy...Both Favreau and Rodriguez paired for that episode and they are for this series so I've detected the consistency in Boba's lines...that's what has me pumped. If he's bluffing, we'll be bummed but if not...we are in for a wild finish and Boba's legend remaining intact as ever it could be.
This is great. The parallels to Unforgiven in some ways is an amazing call out. Youre right in that he acts consistently to his appearance in Mando. He chooses to bargain with Mando rather than fight. But he does set up a plan B against Mando if negotiations fail. He finds his weak spot and already has Fennec scoped in on Grogu. So far he has fought when defending himself or when there is no other choice. And when he does fight, he doesn’t mind being brutal. We know what he did to the Stormtroopers, but people forget he annahilated a Nightwind assassin with a rocket at near point blank range.

He has been choosing to take the harder path. Whether we agree with him or not he wants to rule with respect. So what he does is just as important as how he does it. He has to make deals, build alliances, gain respect. The easiest option, to kill people, is going to be the least beneficial to him except in specific circumstance. Right now it’s just turning out to be much more difficult than he anticipated.

This also means he needs to stand his ground, which he has several times. Either taking it to the mayor or standing up against the Twins. He still needs to be viewed as powerful. So I don’t know if he’ll willingly choose violence at this point, only because that’s counter to his goals, but I could see him being forced into it.

I definitely think he will have his moment in the final episode although I think there's a lot of room for it to be more cheesy than cool. If they have just been playing the long game by showing Fett being seemingly clueless to how the underworld works (he didn't even know the Twins were in town) and making weird decisions that have been endlessly hashed over here, that'll be awesome. I welcome it. It just hasn't made for a particularly interesting show thus far.

I look at this differently. I don’t think Boba is a ”joke”. He’s been gone and presumed dead for 5 years (I think). In that time Bib has been a weak crime boss and really tarnished what a crime boss is in that area. So I think the point of meeting those kids is as follows.
  • To show that his name and the title of crime boss (in that area) did not hold weight anymore. Its been 5 years and things have changed. They say they know who he is, but I think they mean that they know he’s the new crime boss. Boba has been assuming simply being the new crime boss would afford him a ton of respect and it doesn’t.
  • He also learns that the reason the street level people don’t respect him is because life sucks in the city right now and the problems in the city aren’t simple. It turns out the guy complaining about the kids was an ass. He was overcharging for water, taking advantage of the power vacuum, and overall hurting the city.
  • It also shows his new philosophy. That he gets closer to his goal if he solves problems and makes alliances. If he kills those kids it basically does nothing for his own goals. It would make him seem more powerful but perpetuate him ruling with fear.
If he reaches his goal of being the top dawg, he’s no longer doing any grunt work. He would have so many others to do his bidding he just sits on the throne. He’s slowly starting to go down that path.

I hated those kids, but I still feel they served a purpose to the story and how Boba is learning to operate.

I’ll say it…there is no way that the last four episodes will make the first three more entertaining or worth rewatching. The last four might be better, but they can’t make boring, dry episodes better just because of “context”. They also might not be better, and honestly probably won’t. It’s one thing to do a “slow burn”, but TBOBF has officially worn out that excuse, especially with short episodes in a seven episode season. There’s definitely another Rodriguez episode, which means poor pacing, stiff acting, and slow action. The part that seems to me like most people were interested in, the Tuskens, was totally scrapped. Fett seems less and less like Fett with every episode, but worse still, seems less and less like a compelling character of any kind regardless of whether he existed before the show or not. This show is seriously just running on fandom and the Star Wars name. If this were a generic sci-fi show, it would have been panned so quick.

This for sure. I’m defending the logic of the story a lot, but that also doesn’t mean it’s super compelling at this point. It’s cool if they want to tell a more complicated or nuanced story on his rise to power, but it also needs to grab us. It’s not really doing that for me yet.
