The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica (Finished)

Hi everyone! First i'd like to start off by saying this is not going to be a 100% screen accurate costume but rather a costume that is made the way i imagine Peter Parker would have made it i.e. using simple yet effective methods. ;) (And by the way i am not very experienced on a sewing machine, so take it easy on my sewing skills :p)

So obviously to start the costume i had to gather the materials. I found this blue stretch fabric with a raised brick pattern that looked pretty good (however now i wish i had gotten it in navy!) and for the red i am just using normal red lycra, my plans for the brick pattern on the red will be revealed shortly! :D

Here are the two fabrics i will be using...

...Once the materials were acquired, i began by taking my own measurements and then made templates for the blue sections...

...And the red sections...

...I then pinned the two colours of each piece together...

...They were then attached together with a stretchy zig zag stitch...

...The same was then done for the back...

...all the pieces were then attached together.

It has the traditional U zipper to get into the suit and a zip just below the belt to make bathroom trips easier (this will eventually be disguised as a web line:)).

I decided to add some stitching around the crotch area to match the zip placement on the movie suit.

I then went on to attach the gloves.

There are quite a few join lines around the suit, many of which will be hidden by web lines, but like i said i am no expert in sewing so there may be a few visible seams when finished...

...Anyway this is how the suit stands at the moment...

...Still need to fix a few of the ruffles and creases, but as always please comment and enjoy! :D

Off to a great start! Looking forward to its progress

Thanks guys! Nice to hear i'm off to a good start! :)

Here is a test/preview of my brick pattern technique...

I'm using this non slip stuff (you put under carpets to stop them sliding about) as a stencil to spray paint through with brown paint...

not 100% accurate, but quite a nice effect in my opinion :). What do you guys think?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

Very clever! I like it! Seems more successful in the areas with a lighter mist.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

Wow, the resourcefulness is really fantastic right here. Loving the progress, and the anti-slip mat as a stencil, genius! Subscribing now my man.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

Really love some of your ideas, especially the brick pattern on the red! Are you okay if I use that idea in my build?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

So i misted the suit with the brick pattern... And i can't tell you how much i wish i had sprayed the pattern on the red before sewing it together :facepalm. Anyway, there's always time to make a second suit before the films release ;).

I also cut the spider emblem out of rubber, it's not attached yet but all in good time :p. I started the puff paint webs earlier to today so progress is being made, more pics to come soon!

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

The puff painting has begun, the lines look a little wonky only because the suit is not laid flat... honest ;). I've had to make a few creative changes to the web pattern in some areas due to not planning ahead, (oops!) so they are not screen accurate,... but they are all symmetrical and i don't mind how it's turned out :p.
