The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica (Finished)

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

double post

Also i've been meaning to ask you something about the suit, how do you make your pattern you know how exacly did you construct it and how did you measue it all out because i'm pretty much in love with this design and really want to make it but i'm a complete noob to all of this and could really use a hand.

thanks.

suit looks great and it's getting better, how are you planning on doing the lense frames?

Something like this...
DSC_0500.JPG

The frames are cut from acrylic sheet, which i will bend to shape with a heat gun, and the lenses are cut from the speaker mesh i have.

To be perfectly honest most of it is guess work... but i'll explain best i can :p

I start by measuring half way around my body with a tape measure (cos the suit is basically a front and back piece stitched together) and sketching the two halves out onto fabric. I then cut the two halves out and temporarily pin them together to try them. to see if they fit. I don't know how to explain this well, the pics on page 1 will probably help more!

I always make sure that i make something too big for me, then i can take it in/make it smaller where needed.

I just stitched the parts together a way that seemed right, but that's just me... i guess you could look at some clothes making tutorials and just adapt the skills into a spider-man suit?

Hope this helps! :thumbsup

thanks a million dude i've been really nervous about doing my own costume because i'm no expert when it comes to sewing, the frames are brilliant were you going to put a clear sheet of plastic over the top for that reflective/accurate look?

No prob mate, just give it a go... We learn by doing :thumbsup.

Not sure yet I've been thinking about it but I am tempted to leave it just as mesh to prevent them from fogging up, which was the problem I had with my first ASM mask, I'll see how it goes :p

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

Great job! i was wondering What's the name of your fabric for the red? I'm looking all over the place and I can't find it anywhere. Thanks.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Suit Replica WIP

Thanks a lot guys! :D

And skaterdude3, as far as i know it's just red lycra, i got it from a local fabric shop so i don't know any details... except it has a matt side and a shinier side. I have the matt side facing outwards.

The mask is more or less done (except from trimming some excess fabric around the neck). Inside the mask i have glued magnets, onto which to metal mesh of the eyes sticks to, so i can re-position them if they are not level etc...

... And of course i couldn't resist a suit up with the mask ;)

Still need to sort a bit of ruffling around the neck... but with a removable mask it'll never be perfect, ah well... i'm happy with how it's turning out.

Enjoy! :D
